1. The guy with the guitar was hilarous...
The problem I have with presentations like this, is that they perpetuate the
myth that perpetrators are "out there" and that they are someone the child does
not know.

90 percent of children who are sexually abused, are abused by someone very close
to them. Usually, that person is in the home--or is a grandfather, uncle or some
other close relative.

With that said, I think there was a lot of good stuff in this video. The guy with
the guitar singing about body parts was hilarious--but children should be educated
about their bodies and have an understanding of their bodies. That's where the shame of
abuse comes from--when parents don't talk about those things with children.

I also liked that they discussed perp techniques--the threats and the manipulations.
Children need to know how full of bs perps are.

Telling children that they don't own the shame is important too. The video mentioned
that. Very important...since the shame is what keeps most children silent about
sexual abuse. 80 percent never tell anyone.

A good video. However, things haven't changed much since the days of "The Fonz".
Society still remains in denial about the epidemic numbers of children who are
abused in their own homes--and that stranger abductions are extremely rare.

2. This is too funny...
Don't watch this unless your well away from both your coffee cup and the keyboard...it's so earnest in it's insanity.

Classic song -- 'anus is the proper word'

...and to think all these years I have been using 'hershey highway'.

4. I agree with TS on not focusing on
the fact that most abusers are known, not strangers. But this is a good PSA all the same.

I'm going to see if my daughter will let my grandson, 6, watch it. There is some good advice there.

I miss John Ritter. :(
