7. The American Indians..... |
|
they gave so much, and ask so little. They've never complained to my knowledge. My grandmother was 1/2 Cherokee as well. I grew up out west, and had many connections to them through out my life until I was in my 20's. I have so much respect for them. I'm glad to hear that Obama is addressing their needs.

11. Thank You Brother Barack Black Eagle |
|
which means "one who helps all people of this land." Your efforts on behalf of the many nations of this land and my people will not be forgotten.
Passed down from White Buffalo Calf Woman...
Friend, do it this way: that is, whatever you do in life, do the very best you can with both your heart and mind. And if you do it that way, the Power of the Universe will come to your assistance, if your heart and mind are in Unity.
When one sits in the Hoop of the People, one must be responsible, because all of Creation is related, and the hurt of one is the hurt of all, and the honor of one is the honor of all, and whatever we do affects everything in the Universe.
If you do it that way, that is, if you truly join your heart and mind as One, whatever you ask for, that's the Way It's Going to Be.
~Peace

13. This is why I support Barack |
|
I have been a fan and admire of BHO since 2004 and voted for him in the Georgia primary. But it was his speech to the Crow Agency in May that solidified my absolute support for him.
Like Obama I come from a mixed background, but my maternal lineages on both sides are Native. My paternal great grandmother grew up on the Nanticoke reservation in Delaware and my maternal grandmother is of Tsalagi descent (but my ancestors where among those hid from the Trail of Tears and did not join with the Eastern band...long story). The history of my ancestors and our American experience has been ignored and relegated as a foot note in history books. Our civil and legal rights have been trounced upon longer than there has been a United States of America. The future looked as though we would slowly be forgotten. But when I heard Obama speak on how he feels about the role of the government in the way it deals with the Nations, I had a renewed hope. For the first time in American history we will have a president who not only listens to the needs of the first nations but will work to strengthen us. Let's make sure this man is elected come November 4th. Our very future as nations literally depends on it.
