Perfect.

These CEOs are crooks, plain and simple.

4. About the $8000/hr. and saving money by taking the private jet...
It may average out to $8000 (or whatever the amount is), but these guys aren't hourly workers. A company may have to pay an hourly worker overtime if he or she is flying somewhere and is in work status longer than an 8 hour day.

So, I fail to see how the company saves money by sending these guys by private jet.

13. Given their fantasic performance
How about, "Your services are no longer required. That saves the company $16 million."

After all, GM doesn't need Wagoner to run it into the ground.

7. The other part of the rising obscene CEO salaries/bonuses
is that regular workers' salaries have remained stagnant.

Thom Hartmann made a very appropos statement last week:
"Any boss who pays people $10 an hour doesn't deserve to be running a business."

8. Definite K, and much R
In Europe, CEO pay is capped at an average ratio of 15:1. In other words, a CEO can not be paid more than 15 times the average pay of his/her employees. In America, average CEO pay is 425:1 (!!!!) Also, in Germany, corporations must have a labor seat on the board of directors. Europe has active corporate oversight. How much more laissez faire can our country handle?

9. I like the idea of a ratio as opposed to a straight up numbered cap.
I think most people are very turned off by a flat out cap, but would be much more open to a ratio based cap.

And I wasn't aware of the difference in the board of directors, that's also a great idea.

17. "laissez faire" is BushCo's creed: allow greed, criminality, screwing taxpayers with no oversight
----as long as they get their huge profits, millions in bonuses to screw their companies, etc. :puke:

Can't wait to see some of these a-holes go to jail.

32. SOCIALISM!!! SOCIALISM!!!
OH...MY...GOD!!!!

Are you afraid yet?

Y'know, in the early 1900's there were laws like that in the USA. I think there were even laws re breaking huge companies up....after they got to a certain size and profit level. These were repealed in the 1920's and America was jazz crazy....until 1929....

None of this is new, y'know.

11. Any we're especially angry because they came up with $350B
to bail out the investment banking companies. A basic hack in those forms can get $250,000 a year and up, for what? These guys don't actually create ANYTHING. They just move other people's money around

relying on welfare. But these ass wipes get a pass because capitalism, survival of the fittest. Bullshit. Welfare is welfare.

19. McSame's wife has how many houses?
I say let's get together in bands, find out where these crooks live, and once they're located: let's give 'em hell!

And that's anywhere around the world (since they can't live on Mars... yet).

Let's see how they'll 'like' it... (It's That Marie-Antoinette Treat Again!)

That hearing made those CEO's look like asses. It amazes me the amount the financial sector gets, but it looks like Detroit is going to be left out of the picture.

Whatever happens, it looks like this is going to be a rough four years.

29. Obscene salaries, no oversight,
no provisions to prevent this in the future, NOTHING but handing over the money.

The bank bailouts should have included these stipulations but they didn't.
Congress caved in to the fear of " the market will collapse-the market will collapse"
Fine- we'll LOAN you the money with conditions.

Cenk nailed it, again.

These guys aren't willing to sacrifice anything to get themselves out of the financial
hole they are in- they are relying on the taxpayers to do it for them.

31. Let'm use the jet! But ask about their salaries....
CEOs should get a big salary. Let 'em fly in the Corp. jet... I mean they already own the thing, so use it.
But what ever happened to caring about the company you are head of? Doesn't it seem logical and prudent to put some of your huge excessive salary BACK into the company that generates it before letting it go under and/or asking for a bail out?
I guess not if failing up is the norm. Gotta stop the failing up. People who ruin companies (like Cheney) should be pariahs... not paid speakers!
