MSNBC The Rachel Maddow Show - Dec. 9, 2008: Washington, DC planners prepare for the inauguration of President Barack Obama and possibly 5 million visitors on the National Mall. The layout stretches from the Capitol past the Washington Monument all the way to the Lincoln Memorial.

1. I'll be there
Hopefully I get a spot closer to the capital than the Lincoln Memorial, but I'll take any spot I can get.
:woohoo:

2. Yes, me too. Should be so exciting. Guess we will just have to
roll with the flow. I went to Clinton's, had a ticket, and they never even picked it up. There was a large, roped off,
group up close to the stage, with VIPs - where they collected tickets - but behind that, it was stand wherever you want. There
is no way humanly possible for them to collect a million plus tickets - maybe the set up will be similar?

7. She was giving the verbal finger to Faux News.
I don't remember who it was at Faux (not that it matters), but one of them said that with Chambliss' win, it basically turned Obama from a has-been to a never-was and now the republican party was dominant once again.

5. Out of the 100K who showed up for * in 04...
...how many were there to turn their backs on him? Or give him the finger? Or hold up signs, banners, etc? I'll bet quite a percentage. I'm glad we have a president-elect who attracts a crowd for all the right reasons.

6. I was there in '01
To give * the finger.

Plus I only lived a few minutes away, and there was nothing else going on in the city that day.

This time, I live a few thousand miles away, and I am excited to suffer through some loooong flights to bear witness. Plus I have a bunch of friends still in the DC area that I'm looking forward to seeing. One of them is a republican, and he's pretty bitter over the election, so there's our babysitter. I get to tear it up with my 'blue' friends! I can't wait!

9. it was nasty...
and it was cold and rainy too.

I have successfully blocked much of it from my memory, but I do remember that my feet were frozen and I couldn't wait for a hot shower. Thankfully in just over a month, the yuckyness I felt will finally be washed away.
