1. Rick Warren didn't invite himself to speak at Obama's inauguration - Obama invited him nt

2. Watch the video. It doesn't focus on the inauguration, it focuses on Warren.

5.  Hate is not the hope this country needs.
Cenk uses the most clear cut examples to show how Warren chooses to spead his hate. That marriage thing for the last 5,000 years and the concubines not a deal of one man and one women. But instead a contract "marriage" for financial reasons and not love. I love the Red Lobster example.

8. It is so strange for me to have such
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 01:07 PM by ejbr
faith in Cenk's opinions that, as a gay man, I am comforted when he immediately says, "I don't care if Rick Warren gives an invocation at the inaugaration..." From the point that I hear these words, I feel a calm come over me and Cenk then proves me right by indicating that what laws Obama enacts are much more important. Not only that, the skewering Cenk gives Warren after dismissing his invitation only reinforces my ability to be so easily swayed by only snippets of what he says. God bless you Cenk!

Also, considering the repuke nutjobs are all about symoblism, "support the troops" (without supporting them), flag pins (while defending the treasonous act of outing a CIA agent), or the fear of Obama's middle name, it seems fitting that he give Warren this platform to speak. Hopefully, the nutjobs will revel in this gesture long enough for the important things to get done without the distraction of their bullshit.

9. Who gave the millions to AIDS?
What gets me is the way that Rick Warren brags about how he and his wife gave millions to help people with AIDS. Excuse me. Now, where did that money come from? More correctly perhaps, Warren and his wife RAISED millions for AIDS, or they GAVE millions of their parishioners' and supporters' money to help people with AIDS.

I'm very familiar with how charities and churches work. This guys salary comes out of tithes and donations to his church. He seems to forget that when people give him and his church money, they don't give it for the glory of Rick Warren. They give it for the glory of God.

What bothers me about Rick Warren is the lack of humility and prayerfulness in his attitude when he talks. It's all about Rick Warren and how great he is. It isn't about God or Jesus and how Rick Warren is nothing. Having grown up in the home of a truly Christian pastor, I smell a phony Rick Warren when he comes within sniffing distance. What a braggart! How proud he is! That's not the real thing. Sooner or later, his whole theatrical stunt will crumble. His talk about homosexuals is just a symptom that his first priorities are to be "popular" and "successful" not to be a man of God.

10. Bye to my support for Obama. I am not happy about it either.
Unfortunately as far as I am concerned this was the last straw from Obama for me to continue to support him and he hasn't even took office yet. He's going too much against his base. How sad and most unfortunate. I had high hopes for change.

  • Flip flopping on his pledge to immediately withdraw troops from Iraq. Now he says he will continue to "refine" his Iraq policy.

  • Voted for FISA/giving retro active immunity for violators even though he said he pledged to filibuster any bill which contained immunity.

  • Flip flopping on his support for unilaterally renegotiating NAFTA. Now he says his words were "overheated & amplified".

  • Flip flopping on taxes with respect to the rich and corporations. Now he's considering reducing corporate taxes despite having called corporate tax cuts "the exact wrong prescription for America" and not rolling back the taxes on the rich to where they were during the Clinton administration.

  • Stuffing his cabinet with bigots and hawks.

  • Supported the biggest robbery in history from the poor to the rich in their so-called bailout scheme.

  • Flip flopping on nuclear power. He first said "I am not a nuclear energy proponent". Now he says "I don't think that we can take nuclear power off the table." Talking out both sides of his mouth if you ask me.

  • Flip flopped on his pledge "to keep in place the moratorium here in Florida and around the country that prevents oil companies from drilling off Florida's coasts."

I am sorry folks. I know a lot of people here still love Obama, but, I don't support someone just because of their party affiliation. Actions is what counts with me. Oh well, maybe on some outside chance a miracle will happen in four years from now and Kucinich or someone like him will win.

25. Kucinich isn't any better in terms of flip-flopping
Remember how Mr. Ban Handguns used to carry a concealed weapon to defend himself, when thugs were after him?

Yet he wants to strip us of our right to do the same. That's a pretty big chunk of hypocrisy, right there...no better than what Obama has flip-flopped on.

Kucinich? No fucking thanks.

17. And thar's the real heart break for a lot of people.
Our shiney new president who we were looking so forward to -- for his eloquence and for his intelligence and for his lightly worn mantle of cultivation -- to choose THIS @SS is just too much on top of how destructive this man is.

15. Taking away someones rights is not the same thing as free speech.
What as asshole. And as far as Obama asking this nut to be a part of anything is just mind boggling.

But, people were warned about Obama having every intention of holding hands with the thugs.

20. Rick Warren is a terrible choice for giving

the invocation at the inauguration.

The honor of giving the invocation at the inauguration
is very coveted, and many other clergymen would be
much more qualified for this honor than Rick Warren.

Besides being a bigot,Rick Warren is a self absorbed man,
who's best interest is in himself.

K & R,

Cenk, again, :yourock:
