1. Iran is really swell. When they go nuclear we won't be able to
screw them up any more.

2. K&R. That's what happened.
Iran was a democracy until 1953 when the Americans and British installed the Shah, one of the most brutal times in their history. :-(

You'll also remember that after 9/11 the Iranians were the only country in the region to take to the streets in support of the Americans and their tragedy.

6. They also help the U.S. when we invaded Afghanistan.
They supplied intelligence on the various war lords and Taliban movements. They did several other things to help until the administration decided they were our enemy. So much for improving relations with countries in the mideast.

8. They have serious issues with the Taliban.
They could have been a real ally in the "war on terror," but the Bush* administration made the brilliant decision to demonize them... And to ignore Afghanistan in favor of an unprovoked war on Iraq.:-(

3. It would be a smart move to make Iran an ally in the Middle East
being on good terms would serve us well. I am hoping diplomatic relations are opened up again.

7. Sadly, the oil oligarchy doesn't want a healthy, Muslim Democracy in the Middle East.
It would spoil their plans of resource plundering and political dominance and cut their profits. They want to do all they can to take the oil and control the governments of nations like Iran.
