3. If I were imprisoned and tortured for years I would also |
|
return to battle. Of course if the war were over there would be no need to return to battle. During WWII we treated the German prisoners so good that they did not want to return to Germany. Perhaps we should not have tortured the Muslim prisoners. I guess that is just a foolish thought.

11. how would you "return" to a battle you were not involved in in the first place? |
|
if you actually were in the battle, that's the least likely prisoner that would have been let go ...

13. They've tried to make innocent people sign an oath before they leave, |
|
as sort of a last ditch effort to tar them, swearing that they will never fight with al Qaida again. Coercive filth!

6. amazing how much bullshit.. |
|
is put out there each and every day to manage perception. The republicans are using their favorite fear factor (a terrorist coming soon, to a neighborhood near you) to stop the closing of Gitmo, and releasing any of the tortured prisoners.

They're playing the fear card as usual. Unfortunately, it often works. The antidote is good information.
The problem is that the statement "61 returned to the battlefield" makes a good sound byte, while the explanation of the truth takes a little more time and thought.
We need some good rhetorical techniques to combat this problem.

12. We've been on this for months. Check out this thread: |

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x263547We've released a lot of people and it's been kept quiet becauee Bush/Cheney doesn't want anyone to be able to find them or to talk to them.
