Its time to make it happen now. Demand it from Obama; and hold his feet to the fire. He can make it happen.

Single Payer Universal Health Care, aka Medicare for All.

Insurance companies exist to make money - period. If that means saying no, so be it.

Take insurance companies out of the equation. No profit on my health!

23. If it means you die, so be it. Seriously. They don't care if you die
just don't stand in the way of their profits! Insurance companies need to die a quick, painful death. And the "100,000 people" employed by them, well, they can find other jobs just like the rest of us are doing. Since sitting at a desk working to steal money from people through insurance premiums and then working to deny care so someone else can get the profit isn't A JOB, there really is no issue here.

4. That is not what the article says at all.
I know you meant the headline as the solution and i agree 1000%, but your editorial headline is misleading nonetheless.

No one in the video says anything about removing the profit motive from health care.

9. I'm sure the right wing neocons would label this young woman as ....
...some sort of lazy liberal that chose NOT to be covered, or some other equally bull shit reason.

I am so ashamed of this country when it comes down to what we do for the poor and needy, let alone those of us that have the basic needs met. England, France, Canada, Scandinavia, and other leading first world nations take care of those less fortunate than the wealthy. Our nation simply lets them die on the streets. Pathetic...and nothing has changed much.

....look how long it takes for the English, the French, the Canadians and Scandinavians to get to see a doctor. Don't you people listen to the rethuglican arguments against national health care? What, you want this country to become a "communist" nation? :woohoo:

Edited on Sat Mar-14-09 12:30 PM by GreenTea
call it so socialism, so be it, but it's all coming out of our tax dollars...

The republican would prefer to have the twenty time larger bloated cost of our military budget that our tax dollars are paying for instead Health Care for all....selfish war mongering bastards!

Give single payer heath care to all except Republicans as they don't believe in it. You would be surprised how many would become BELIEVERS after that.

Health care and insurance are both wastes of money when prayer is free.

Trying to avoid or reverse illness is denying your fate so it makes sense that it would lead to punishment.

I suppose the Republicans are just more aware of this.

21. Actually, the Republican position is
"Yes, we should be charitable, but it should all be private, and to force people to pay for social programs through their taxes is theft."

Yeah, how many $10,000 hospital stays are they supporting through their charitable contributions?

13. oh and the frosting on the cake is
in this country, you lose your job, you lose your health care.

How unspeakably cruel is that?

Oh yeah, COBRA. The monthly price is so high, most unemployed people cannot afford it.

I am so freaking fed up with the "legacy" left to us by republicans.

based on denying service to its paying customers.

Why is this acceptable? In any other business, it would be fraud.

24. WE DON'T HAVE TO WAIT AS LONG TO SEE A DOCTOR SO IT'S OK! WE HAVE THE BEST HEALTHCARE IN THE WORLD!!
Edited on Sun Mar-15-09 12:49 AM by Liberal_Christian
... and if you believe that, you've been drinking conservative-cool-aide.

Seriously, has anyone heard any other rebuttals than "my tax dollars shouldn't go toward other's health" and "in those other county's you have to wait too long to see a doctor" to universal healthcare??? because those are the only other two I've heard and they're pathetic.

Sean Hannity said "Healthcare in Britain is a joke" but according to the World Health Organization, the US's healthcare is ranked 37th in the world (that's pathetic ESPECIALLY for an industrialized country), we have 46 million people who don't even have health insurance, ours costs the most, and we have the health mortality rate of a third world country but all of this is okay because our rich get a little richer and we don't have to wait that long for a doctor.

...so how do we the best healthcare in the world again? Because I still haven't heard the answer.

28. Let the Marketplace work
I would love to see a single payer government system set-up in parallel with the existing system. Then watch all the customers move to the new system and leave the old system dying on the vine. End of argument.

I mean the the marketplace is supposed to provide choice right?

29. Holy shit. That's genius.
I know it's obviously easier said than done but it has to be possible; Don't force the people to adopt a government market system like a communist regime but allow for a choice between private and government. Is that possible?

31. huh. never thought of it that way.
Makes sense but I guess the only right-wing complaint would be the golden oldie "not my tax dollars" to someone else's choice in healthcare.
