And there is a rampant rumor that he is not the father of the child expected with his wife.

5. one affair while he was going through a divorce does not make him a womanizer |
|
Clinton had his faults, but i still think of him as one of our best leaders.
Newsom is responsible for the "Care not Cash" program which helps the homeless, he implemented universal healthcare for the people of san Francisco and he went against the grain and directed the country clerks to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples.
He's made mistakes but he's a good guy who i feel really cares about helping people. His personal flaws shouldn't erase the good he's done.

6. I agree with you, but come on! |

You campaign chief adviser's wife? Supposedly one of his best friends and he sleeps with his wife. I mean, I like Newsom a lot and still think he has a very bright future, but I had to take a minute when I heard that and re-evaluate some things.

7. I agree it was not a good thing to do, but again we don't know all the fact about their relationship |
|
That's why I've never subscribed to connecting someone's political persona to their personal mishaps. It's too hard to know why someone did something when you don't walk in their shoes, it's easy to criticize people from the outside, but it's never as salacious as we all make it out to be. We may think it's morally wrong to do what he did, but many people view homosexuality as wrong and would use that as an excuse to dismiss someone's political career. I'm not comparing homosexuality to cheating, but i am saying that there are aspects of people's personal lives that really have no baring on how i see them do their job. If he was charged with child abuse or he was a drunk or engaged in activity that physically harmed people or hindered his ability to do his job, then yeah he shouldn't be in his position. But adultery as bad as we view it, is really too complicated and personal to be used as a reason to dismiss him as a good politician. You have to look at his intent, most cases people end up having affairs because they fell in love or they were going through something bad and needed the comfort, and often they turn to people who they are close to.
There are just too many variables in this one mistake he made for me to discount all the good he's done for his city.

3. It would be nice if he held a meeting in San Francisco |
|
Then he could answer for the skyrocketing murder rate, the decreasing cleanliness of our streets and sidewalks and increasingly aggressive homeless people. But wait, he is either in skiing in Davos, wining in Paris or holding a town hall in LA. CA can have him if it means he leaves the city.
