1. It hate that Canadians are equating "Fox News" with "Americans"
Faux probably represents the views of only about 15% of Americans, AKA the backwash.

3. If we equated "The Canadians" with the Harper government, we'd be thinking they were all just like
little George Bushes.

That conservative government (which controls the CBC, FWIW) is pretty frigging ... icky.

2. "I think it's pretty ignorant of the AMERICANS to say something like that"
Geez, two wrongs. Those weren't "the AMERICANS"--they were two idiots. Every country has their share.

The Faux idiots take out their broad brush, and the people interviewed by CBC return the favor.

Sheesh.

17. But Most Countries Don't Let Them On TV
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 02:07 PM by mudesi
Another country would not allow such idiots to spout off their shit on international television and call it a "news network". Another country would be embarrassed and ashamed that such a hateful network even exists and the people would not watch it. That every one of those morons haven't been fired speaks to that. Only liberals get fired for saying stuff on TV in America.

20. Yeah, they do. Fox is not just an American thing. Other nations do the same stuff.
It's just that we're less clued-in on their internal politics, so we might not notice it.

The CBC, the Canadian station that aired that report as well as that stupid lady with her broad brush, is putting up some DOOZIES lately that are reflective of the Harper government. They even have an obnoxious TV series (family drama) called EASTONS MEET WEST or something like that. It's the tale of a family of "asshole liberals" who move to Western Canada and are fishes out of water. They behave like complete fuckers, they're rude to their neighbors, they're didactic about "ecological issues" because, you see, they are city slickers and they just don't UNDERSTAND. Oh, and daddy is an "environmental officer" for an OIL company.

The neighbors bring them a meal for their first day in their new home. Instead of saying "thank you" they turn up their noses because it has MEAT in it and then they give their new neighbors a bigass lecture.

Liberal Mom does yoga naked in front of an open window in full view of the neighbor's children, the druggie-looking daughter, who doesn't fit in with the wholesome country scene, steals a car and runs away, and is rescued by the son of the neighbors, who was going to drop out of school but changes his mind because he thinks the liberal chick is hot (and of course, he's a GOOD boy), and the liberal father lectures/finger wags the self-reliant, no nonsense, eminently likeable next door neighbors about everything from using a paintball gun to scare a coyote away from the livestock (that's BAAAAD), to using pressure treated wood in an area where anything else would rot in a year (also BAAAAD).

Are you getting the picture? CBC is a government run channel. The message in this series is that liberals are obnoxious, stupid little pricks to be tolerated and pitied, because, well, they're stupid. The shit they put up there is reflective of the CONSERVATIVE government currently in power. They want everyone watching to understand that liberals are well meaning, stupid, clueless buffoons who cannot do the hard work of farming, ranching, surviving and providing sustenance for others.

Now see, when the liberals were in power, they had a show on called WIND AT MY BACK that was a heartwarming family drama about the Depression, that emphasized people helping each other, a need for more government programs to help those hurt worst by the economy, the struggles of a young widow and her children, the interfering mother-in-law who was a wealthy mine owner who was sometimes slow to provide equitable wages and safety in the mine, who hated the daughter in law because she was (gasp!) Catholic....that tackled topics like discrimination, labor issues, social issues, you name it. It was written with a deft touch, too, so it was a popular program--and it was cancelled quite abruptly when the government changed.

It can all fly over one's head if one isn't paying attention. The same sort of thing happened here on TV with GWB, even without "government run" channels. All of those stupid "enforcement" shows like 24 and NCIS--I mean, please. How hideous. Talk about MUST MISS TV. That stuff just sucked.

6. Unrefined remarks such as these are trademarks of Fixed News.
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 12:02 PM by pacalo
Nothing new to us -- it's like the patients of a mental hospital have been given a network to play with & have no boundaries about which to speak over the airwaves.

Fixed News has been a major flagwaver for this contrived invasion; it seems they would be profusely thanking a major country such as Canada for its willingness to lay their lives on the line for the "Americans".

16. Hate To Break It To You
But in most other countries that call themselves democracies, news channels speak for the people. That lady is probably so used to it that she assumed something coming from a "news channel" would be an accurate representation of all Americans.

I think it's time to acknowledge the real damage Fox News does to America's reputation around the world.

It wouldn't exist if people didn't watch it, you know.

9. appropriate comments from faux for the country that
hid 6 of our hostages in their embassy during the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

Where does faux find these cretins. Making comments like that - and you know neither of those a-holes has ever come close to putting on a uniform.

And they continue to call themselves patriots. They are the lowest of the low imho.

to polarize and get the kooks to watch.

13. Tarred with the same brush...
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 01:01 PM by lilgrasskikka
It's Americans adventuring in Iraq. All because of one man, Saddam Hussein. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians dead... for the head of one man...? Now that's tarring with the same brush. Gutfield still has a job. Until the outcry against him is as deafening, as his own foul speech... I will not be persuaded to believe that he does not speak for all americans.

America Foreign policy has been one of rape, murder and pillage for at least a century. People like Gutfield are not the exception. So, my fellow americans (canada being the most northerly part of north america), do not be offended when we canadians are offended by the cruel, inhumane, and thoughtless speech of one of your fellow citizens. We've heard it before. In fact, usually it comes packaged with a threat.

14. This is soooo appropriate for US...
We, the nation who paints Muslims as terrorists, the nation who labels all latinos as "illegal immigrants" who suck the life blood of our social system, the nation who places blame for murders and rapes at the hands of illegal immigrants and people of color.....that WE should be labeled by this same shame and embarrassment that this despicable program displays is only fitting.

I hope the morons who support this propaganda network of vile and distorted information accept the most of the insult; but in reality, they are mostly ignorant and brain dead buffoons, and they will slither into the darkness and accept this as an insult to ALL Americans.

I've watched this insane show for the past two nights in my hotel room...as they play fox network as one of their few networks available on their television selection, and I saw this horrid show. I didn't once think anything was the least bit humorous. Insulting, pompous and ugly would be the only words that come to my mind regarding these boorish idiots. THEY think they are funny.....nobody else would, except for the sick and ugly audience that tunes in to their lunacy.

Canada has a right to be pissed. Pissed at fox and all those who support this pathetic rag of propaganda.
