1. Shep Smith is unusual for Fox News
I keep wondering when he'll leave. Or be asked to leave.

14. i sort of like Shepard actually.

haha! lookie here, almost the first thing that came up in a google search:

"In April 2009, in response to the the claim that techniques such as waterboarding may have been effective in fighting terrorism, Smith said in an online Fox News show, "I don't give a rat's ass if it helps. We are America! We do not fucking torture!"<9>"

4. Does Martha MacCallum push conservatism?
From what little I've seen she comes off as pretty neutral, a tolerable one there.

5. It's surreal watching Shepard having this slow epiphany on live TV
That he is indeed working in the belly of the beast.

22. One of the funniest moments...
Was Shep making fun of Glenn Beck's stupid "We surround them" crap!

I keep saying I do not expect Shep to be a FOX employee much longer but he is still there.

6. Wow. Just wow. Surely they understand that they are responsible
for ginning up this level of hatred for the current president and administration and democrats. They were leading the way, off and on, in ratcheting up the fear and loathing. And they are surprised that the emails are coming in with this tone?

Or brushing off their paranoid delusions.

There ain't never been anything funny about these racist psychopaths and there never will be. Fox bears alot, though certainly not all, of responsibility for this.

8. They Don't Scare Us Anymore
As a black American woman born in the 80s I've never been confronted with any form of real, unadulterated, "in yo' face" racism. But if I was I don't think fear would be my initial reaction. Amusement maybe, pity, irritation...but NEVER fear. "They" may be out there in scary places...but we aren't scared. We aren't scared anymore. Johns wasn't the first black man to lose his life by the unrelenting hands of racism and he won't be the last. This isn't something new to the black community; we may be saddened by this but we are not surprised. And we aren't scared either; we haven't been scared since the 1960s. There is nothing new about the low depths that white supremacists and racists in this country will sink to; we as a community and we as nation have been here and done this before. There is nothing new about a white man killing a black man or aiming the barrel of a gun at a member of the Jewish community. We aren't surprised and more importantly, we ARE NOT scared of them being out there in scary places either. Not anymore.

RIP Stephen Johns, May God Bless You and Your Family.

26. Wise words for ALL Progressives
This should be clipped to the top for all of us when we start to fall for our own fearful reactions to the right wing noise. (not that I think no action should be taken at all in response to their extremism)

I'll go have a look at your blog later ......

on FOX at the same time. That's not something you see every day.

I got a feeling Shep is going to be moving on soon, maybe to MSNBC?

19. Fox is the only big TV network tolerable to the hard right.
That doesn't mean they like all of it, just that it's tolerable. Just look over at Free Republic -- they hate Shep (much gay-hating bile there) and strongly dislike O'Reilly (not pure enough).

I also remember him saying the US should not torture and he didn't give any ground to the other anchors who were excusing it.
