14. NEW & DIFFERENT DU COLLABORATION! check this out...

I wrote an anti-war poem, inspired by a visit to the VA a few months back and zulch-zulu, here at DU has honored me by putting it too music. I had reposted the poem last month and we went back and forth on the OP to work out the chorus, which wasn't a part of the original poem. WE CAN ALL STILL VOTE FOR HIS HARD WORK: IT WAS POSTED LATE LAST NIGHT RIGHT AFTER MY LAST COMMENT HERE.

If I could give them eyes to see - past profits from a war
Perhaps Iraq could then be free - to live, just like before

I've known Pete for a long time, and I've always been amazed at how well he articulates liberal/progressive values both in his music and in conversation . . . he was talking about protecting the environment before many knew the meaning of the word (at least in its present-day context) . . . and his record of anti-war activism is extensive and long-standing . . .

I myself was introduced to both environmental and anti-war activism by Pete (I worked with him on the Clearwater project, we marched together in DC in 1971), a gift for which I will be forever grateful . . .

Pete is a true national treasure, and someone for whom I have the greatest and most sincere admiration and affection . . .
