Instead we get Geithner, Summers, Paulson? You couldn't ask for a slimier, corrupt gang of thugs and reptiles if you hired Don Corleone to head up the Treasury. Under their watch, much of the $700 billion bailout funds disappeared without a trace, and you can tell she's outraged about it.

1. ''Why isn't this brilliant woman in charge of our nation's treasury?''
An excellent question. And did you know, she's also a Republican???? After what she's seen them do to the country and the economy -- why she is still a Republican, I have no idea.

3. she's one of those old school repubs I guess that believes in proper spending, but yes,
why the hell would she stay with them through W's horrible 8 years... unless she's a believer in all the social beliefs of the GOP (anti-gay marriage/rights, abortion, etc) regardless, she spoke sense here.

4. Can you link me to where this info comes from
I've searched and cannot find anything to indicate that, in fact all I'm finding is she has been an outspoken critic of trickle down economics and the destruction of the middle class for a couple decades now.

8. It's been a while....
...since I read it. I was surprised as well.

But I'll see if I can find it. ;)

12. I've searched hi & lo....
...and it wasn't in any news article reference that I've read lately. Seems like I remember reading at TPM, but I'm not certain. It may very well have been something in the comments. In any event, since I can't find it, I retract it. Which I gladly do since I can't find the ref and I'd prefer she not be "one of them" anyway. I hadn't previously thought of her so much as "political" as I do a "populist."

As it stands Elizabeth Warren is among my personal Group of Three for whom I greatly admire. She, along with Brooksley Born and Sheila Bair.

These are three women who have done great service(s) for the country, and have hardly been recognized for it, in my view. They should (right now) be the one helping Obama run the country. Instead of the ones he did pick.

- Since they also happen to be the same ones who helped advance the policies and law changes, which in turn has landed us into this economic ditch in the first place....

15. Thank you for trying to find the info
I first saw her on the frontline program on credit cards and on bill moyers several times, she is a truth teller, something never found in the republican party. If true that would have been a first.

2. sounds like Paulson needs arrested. Geithner never seemed trustworthy - I think this lady would've
been more wide-reaching with the restrictions placed on these corporations to stop screwing their fellow citizens!

Makes me question why Obama chose Geithner, but he knows what I don't - and I cannot trust someone I don't know - I can have hope that he's good. But, even though I think he's good, it doesn't mean that he agrees like this lady does...

it's very frustrating. I hope when this term is over - that we have seen a great turnaround and regulation will be placed back onto the market...

just do it

5. Oversight Panel is nothing but PR window dressing.
Warren was given zero powers to compel the banks and the treasury to cooperate in any way. Their cooperation shall be strictly on a 'volunteer basis' according to the mandate given to her by the Senate Dems and White House. lol.

7. Geithner sees a little more complexity, wants to do right, but these too big to fail are problems we
don't have laws for. I heard Romer (sp?) wants to take them apart. Every step of the way we run into resistance, modifying mortgages, consumer protection, but the fault isn't Geithner as much as Congress owned by the banks.

13. As to Bill's philosophical inquiry...
We're probably worse than aliens. You don't see them screwing each other over for a goddamned percentage.

16. Seen her on Moyers almost weekly for a period during the BushCo years.
Maybe someone at the WH watches Moyers, too?

She always made perfect sense and scared the living shit out of me!
