On a sample ballot with only one question, "can the votes on a Diebold machine be hacked using the memory card?", 8 total votes are cast by volunteers, 6 no and 2 yes. The vote is tallied on a machine chosen at random from a large group of machines.

The printout of results on that machine displays 7 yes and 1 no votes. To verify that this result would actually appear on the final count, the memory card with the hack is entered into a GEMS tabulator machine, and the same (hacked) result is displayed there as well.
