On Thursday, June 21, the Senate will vote on the
Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA).

Please call your Senators NOW and ask them to vote
YES on the Employee Free Choice Act (S.1041)

Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard through the AFL-CIO’s EFCA Hotline at 1-800-774-8941, and follow the prompts.
You can also call the Capitol switchboard directly at 1-866-220-0044 and ask for your Senator.

EFCA will restore workers’ freedom to collectively bargain for a better life. Explain to your senators that buy voting Yes on EFCA it will:

1.
strengthen penalties for companies that coerce or intimidate employees;
2.
establish mediation and binding arbitration when the employer and workers cannot agree on a first contract; and
3.
enable employees to form unions when a majority express their decision to join the union by signing authorization cards.

1. Once again, thanks Steve!!
I just watched "Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price." Everyone in America should see this movie.

They covered all aspects of Walmart -- low wages, poor benefits, union busting, discrimination against women & minorities, they even had a part about the factories in China. There was a very interesting section of the movie about how much crime occurs in Walmart parking lots & how little they do to curtail it. In one case, where a violent crime had happened, that particular Walmart had security cameras in the parking lot. As it turns out, they were only installed to spy on workers who were meeting in the lot & discussing a union. The cameras weren't manned by any security people unless suspected workers were outside, hence the violent crime occurred without anyone in security knowing. Or caring, it seemed.

I'm seriously thinking about buying this movie for my family. It's their choice where they want to shop, but they should know what they support when they shop Walmart.
