1. She gives women a bad name! |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 05:32 PM by Tx4obama
How on earth can she not know how much her and her husband make per year? Doesn't she read the tax forms she signs each year? She has no clue what she is talking - she doesn't know anything about what is really in the bill (that hasn't even yet been finalized), nothing about medicare and social security, etc. Thank you MSNBC for having her on the show --- it shows how uneducated many of the astroturfers really are!
The only reason she is paying attention to 'politics' now is because Obama is OUR President.
Get off the TV Katy and go and bake a pie!
p.s. I am a woman, so I don't want to hear from anyone saying that I am sexist ;)

lotta heart no brain. The founding fathers went bankrupt getting this country started. They gave all they had for you Katy. They expect you to do the same for your neighbors..do you give or help someone who has lost their home or job? I missed hearing that.
And just for the record..what Obama said was "If I were designing a system from scratch, I would probably go ahead with a single-payer system," which is not what you said he said.
Is it that hard for these people to use their brain? They respond to something emotionally but are not listening. How can you possibly not know what your income/debt is? Oh my husband takes care of all that? Well then you have lots of time for reading..try some

|
It was clear that she would like to have the government programs that directly benefit her and the people she loves, but nothing else. She was unwilling to commit to ditching Social Security and Medicare because it will soon be benefiting her parents.
What these Republicans mean when they're referring to government programs that don't work, etc., etc., is welfare, and what they're thinking of is African-Americans on welfare. The root of all of this is Reagan's "welfare queen" b.s. It's racism wrapped with economics - the Republican political filet mignon.

People should take care of one another? How many families are you helping to support? How many of their children are you clothing and feeding?

70. Perhaps it IS a coincidence. He's also her first opposition prez as a "grown-up". |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 11:09 PM by JHB
If she's 35 the she was born in '74 (give or take a year depending on actual birth date). So the first president she'd remember is Reagan. Doesn't really pay attention to the news until Poppy's War when she's 16-17 (and that because Daddy had it on). That tells you either Daddy was a Republican or didn't care either -- Daddy apparently didn't spend the Reagan/Bush years complaining about The Gipper and Poppy and capitulating Democrats who let them off the hook in scandal after scandal. During the Clinton years (age ~18-26) she's probably going to college and maybe working some job (given her cavalier attitude towards the war, I'd wager against her personally knowing anyone close to her serving or who had family serving). By her own admission, she didn't care.
And obviously she continued her ingrained habit of not paying attention and was all hunky-dorey with Chim-Chim while she and hubby started their family.
So now comes Obama. Yeah he's black, but he's also the first "opposition" president she's experienced as "a grown-up", as someone who has to think ahead and make plans for more than "what are we doing this weekend?". And what has spurred her to action? Fear of some boogey-man version of single payer, the version promulgated by the insurace companies and ideological zealots.
Any Democratic president would be attacked by the Right the same way, no matter if it were Hillary or Edwards or just about anyone else. It's what they did to Bill Clinton. Hell, they even did the "birther" thing with him back then, with the equally-phoney "Clinton renounced his citizenship" flap.

that she wasn't a "grown up" until she was 27. As you point out, the RW did the same thing to Clinton. She apparently didn't notice him?
Sorry, I think she's a racist. ;)

That says it all when you describe the past eight years and how we got here.
She responded to questions about wars, invasions, and any other matter with "I didn't care".
Just stunning to me.
" I was getting married".
Nobody commented on this..it compelled me to join and let out this small scream of pain about why I really really think about leaving this country.
The national trend of narcissism is chilling.

She isn't even that worldly.
She watches whatever her "husband who takes care of her" says she can watch.
Unbelievable.

She doesn't even know the income of her own household? I guess that's not for women to know in the republican party.

would have a similar interview if asked these same questions. Completely clueless, and lends even more evidence that these people are being manipulated to do these things. They dont even know what they are for or against. Actually this was a pretty pathetic thing to watch.

The stuff about "what the founders wanted" and "I wasn't interested in politics before this" are bullshit talking points. That's why they fall apart when she's questioned about them. She's most likely been interested in politics for years, but once you say something like "I wasn't interested before this" you've dug that hole and you're stuck with having to explain your apathy up till now when the truth is that you haven't been apathetic. You end up looking like either a vacuous fool or a liar.
What O'Donnell did here is the perfect way to kill this particular talking point (and most other talking points). Call them on it. Require some detail. Then watch them stumble around looking for an answer.
