Rachel Maddow: Racist Nightmare On K Street - Who's Really Behind The Obama=Hitler Meme |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-13-09 10:21 PM by Turborama
Rachel covers the links between resistnet.com and grassfire.org (a GOP PR company) that's behind the Obama=Hitler hatemongering which is whipping up the preprogrammed town hall hooligan-bots. So, it's not only Glenn BecKKK doing this, there are even darker forces at work. ETA Kudos to Douglas Carpenter for posting his expose earlier in the week: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x351839#352687

3. Fact is Obama is not using the tools of the government like Bush did (making examples |
|
of people who speak the truth, myth making, wars of aggression, separating the country using wedge issues, labeling democrats with nasty names, and on and on). Obama is doing not of the shit Hitler did. Bush did. Was why it made sense to call Bush out on his jackboot tactics and why it makes no sense to call Obama a nazi.

given credibility by the GOOP and republican legislators. From "American Fascism: Are We There Yet"
“…That description sounds eerily like the dire straits our Congressional Republicans find themselves in right now. Though the GOP has been humiliated, rejected, and reduced to rump status by a series of epic national catastrophes mostly of its own making, its leadership can't even imagine governing cooperatively with the newly mobilized and ascendant Democrats. Lacking legitimate routes back to power, their last hope is to invest the hardcore remainder of their base with an undeserved legitimacy, recruit them as shock troops, and overthrow American democracy by force. If they can't win elections or policy fights, they're more than willing to take it to the streets, and seize power by bullying Americans into silence and complicity. When that unholy alliance is made, the third stage -- the transition to full-fledged government fascism -- begins.
Snip
“…the guessing game is over. We know beyond doubt that the Teabag movement was created out of whole cloth by astroturf groups like Dick Armey's FreedomWorks and Tim Phillips' Americans for Prosperity, with massive media help from FOX News. We see the Birther fracas -- the kind of urban myth-making that should have never made it out of the pages of the National Enquirer -- being openly ratified by Congressional Republicans. We've seen Armey's own professionally-produced field manual that carefully instructs conservative goon squads in the fine art of disrupting the democratic governing process -- and the film of public officials being terrorized and threatened to the point where some of them required armed escorts to leave the building. We've seen Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner applauding and promoting a video of the disruptions and looking forward to "a long, hot August for Democrats in Congress." This is the sign we were waiting for -- the one that tells us that yes, kids: we are there now. America's conservative elites have openly thrown in with the country's legions of discontented far right thugs. They have explicitly deputized them and empowered them to act as their enforcement arm on America's streets, sanctioning the physical harassment and intimidation of workers, liberals, and public officials who won't do their political or economic bidding. This is the catalyzing moment at which honest-to-Hitler fascism begins. It's also our very last chance to stop it..."
They don't want discussion for it makes them look like fools. They don't want debate because it diminishes their true motivation...stop Obama no matter what. Steele is lying out his ass...he knows HC ins reform is just cover for preventing the dems from being successful because it would cost the GOP political power. Fools can't see this really has very little to do with HC and more to do with manipulating their anger with misinformation for political gain.

7. K&R. Shirley & Bannister PR firm behind "Grassfire" |
|
The same Mr. Shirley that brought us the Willie Horton ad.
With all the evidence of abundant right wing funding of the fear mongering that fuels the town hall shout-downs, it is really disturbing to hear mainstream news clips just talking as though the incidents really are spontaneous sentiments of people disturbed about health care reform.
Even after so much has been exposed, with documentation, we get the quick news clips on the radio and TV just reporting the incidents without any reference to the much bigger story about how far the right wing is willing to go to defeat President Obama's efforts.
As silly as CNN's decision to ban all radio show hosts from its TV broadcasts because Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck have enraged enough people. How about they just ban people who promote violence-- Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, etc.
CNN's decision continues the pretense that all the radio hosts are the same, even though the dominant right wing hosts tell lots of lies that have been proven to be lies, and our progressive hosts take pride in delivering facts. Our progressive hosts deal with the opposition through humor and exposing the truth behind the lies. CNN and others have allowed extreme right wingers onto the airwaves even after their most inflammatory comments but they've already severely limited the left wingers they allow on their precious broadcasts.
And hey, I don't think Ann Coulter has a radio show, so CNN can have that venomous sociopath on the air but not Stephanie Miller?
And in order to keep Michael Savage from spewing his hate on CNN, their listeners don't get to hear Thom Hartmann?
What a convenient way to keep progressive voices off the TV. Lump them in with the dangerous inflammatory right wing voices. Substance be damned.
