Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and "sand painting" skills to interpret Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII. Where art and politics meet, this video is worth watching.

1. It's NOT a cartoon. It's beautiful artistry, set and timed to music.
It is AMAZING. This was originally posted by Shraby on Thursday and made it to the greatest page, btw. See here:

If your post allows more people to see it, so be it....but I believe in "giving credit where credit is due".

How did you first learn of it, tomm?

Regardless, I hope people will take a few minutes and watch.

5. Is she working just with her bare hands and the sand?
What beautiful and emotional artistry.

10. Thanks for posting this again.
I've watched it a dozen times now and I'm still mesmerized. I can't help thinking that these are the effects that real nazis have, even more than half a century later.

Stunning, and I don't even know all that much about the history of that time and place.

Absolutely amazing.

12. I missed it first time too.
The full story of the suffering caused by Hitler's "Operation Barbarosa" are sadly little known to most Americans. The Russians lost twenty million dead but none of my teachers in the nineteen fifties mentioned that fact to me. I guess we were busy hating them for something or other..... I never knew why.

This young lady is a great soul.
