violating the constitution?!" says esteemed and learned constitutional scholar, Esther Steinbaum of Boca Vista Retirement Community, Phase 4, Lake Havasu, AZ.

2. .
I have to say it's pretty courageous to go against the mob and I give him credit for being so clear about this point.

9. I have to agree - McCain for once really stood up for Obama as president for ONCE! wow
also, if he were a democrat, he would have said, 'you must realize that our previous president, with my help, put this country nearly 10 trillion in debt, so yelling at me about the current president spending a couple trillion to get us out of the mess, is an argument I can't support'

3. I thought we
were past the elections. Is there an office McCain is running for that I am not aware of? Why else would he be stepping around so lightly and risk jeers from his "constituents?" Could it be? Does one Repub have a tiny shred of decency and respect for the president...nah never mind, I'll stick with the office thing.

14. There is an office he's running for, but I think he was sincere
He's up for re-election next year. It's not thought likely that he'll have a really tough race, though.

In terms of his own prospects, he was probably free to choose whether to pander to the crowd or to counter the absurd attacks on Obama. I agree with others in this thread who think it's to his credit that he chose the latter.

18. Being a top tier Republican
means not being encumbered by truth or any sense of honor. Hard as he tries, McCain just can't consistently sink to that standard.

4. In defense
McCain did not pander to the woman who wants Obama to follow the Constitution. He handled the stupid comment respectfully.

7. Oh,
I agree, he did handle it very respectfully, but given the direction the Republican windbags have been blowing (Obama a socialist, a Kenyan, a Muslim, a terrorist, hitler, etc.) I naturally found this quite out of the ordinary and very surprising.

15. What the hell is wrong with these people?
Edited on Tue Aug-25-09 04:03 PM by AsahinaKimi
This must be Fox News influence.. and people like Right Wing media talking points stirring up crap thats not even true. If they can get by making up the worse crap they will.. and Sean Hannity, Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck will raise the alarm for people to just "do something". This crap has to stop soon..

At least McCain had the decency to not stir up the idiots further in hate..

19. what's wrong with them?
they can't stand that a black man is their president. Their high dudgeon is reinforced every night when hannity, o'lielly, and beck go to air. This is about them reprosecuting the election for an outcome they want, not the outcome the vast majority of this country wanted. They can't stand they lost--their way of thinking, their so-called "way of life", the election that would have kept that counterfeit construct in place. So now that they have nothing left to lose, they've snatched off their masks of normalcy and are showing their true natures.

These same people have NO problem with Bush spending us to far into debt we'll never see daylight over false war in Iraq. They have NO problem with Bush eavesdropping on their phone calls without warrants. They all have nothing to hide, so spy away on them--they have nothing to buy, so spend billions/day in Iraq.

watching how ignorant Palin was, probably thanked God he didn't have to deal with her daily for 4 years!!!!

17. The Point Was Well Made By Biden Last Year, And It Is A Good One

When you get into the business of questioning motives, instead of taking disagreement at face value, things really tend to head south.

22. McCain only has himself and his party to blame
allowing Palin to incite pour fuel on the fire....McCain could have taken a stronger stance and really forced the mass hysteria to stop during his candicacy but he chose not to.

The crowd boood when he made that statement.
