1. Okay, well ..
"We" had not EVER had those kinds of attacks prior to Bush/Cheney. So, getting things back to par is no reason for all his back slapping. They clearly lacked the mechanism to prevent a squatter from squatting and pretending to be a leader for eight years. That pretty well nixes anything of benefit (I can't think of any) that came out of the administration.

He is delusional. How does he stay out of a mental institution? He thinks he has powers other people don't have. That's criteria for psychotic.

about "Osama Bin Laden's Determination to Strike Within the United States", and abnormally frequent "chatter" from terrorist networks intercepted by the FBI.

4. I don't think any of that registers with Cheney. It's 100% off his radar.
I'd hate to hear what he might say behind closed doors on the subject, but my guess would be that it's probably somewhere in the neighborhood of "fuck 'em."

This is the guy who was OK with American Military personnel putting their lives on the line to defend their country while he succeeded in FIVE deferments in the name of his "other priorities."

He really is a man without a soul or conscience, and the sad part is that I think he knows it and is very, very proud of it.

6. Nothing illegal about threatening someone with a handgun or drill.
In Cheney's next interview the person conducting the interview will be honor bound to have a handgun and drill on hand to get answers out of Cheney with. After all it's not illegal and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Just as long as you don't use them. I would like to know if the interviewer drilled through the center of Cheney's chest. Would the drill bit hit Cheney's pacemakers before it hit his heart? I know, I know, Cheney does have a heart. It's just part of the pretending.

Goering, Speer, Himler, Eichmann were all a little disconcerted that they were going to be investigated, too. They had the best opinions of Nazi legal authorities. They were only following orders. The amazing gall of Dick to not only claim they were following orders in the W regime, but that Dick was issueing orders on legal opinions by his own freaking underlings.

15. He just admitted to a crime
'I knew about waterboarding'. That is against the law, and for his information, lawyers appointed by Bush don't get to change the law. Congress gets to do that.

I notice he's careful to say 'I knew about it' not 'I ordered it'.

Dick is scared, just as he was when he refused to fight in a war he supported, five different times.

Also, I wish these reporters when they get a chance to question someone like him, would stop softening the issue for the public.

They tortured people to death. I would show him the photos of the Iraqi General, who he cannot pretend was not a POW btw, being mocked after being beaten and suffocated to death.

I would ask him about the tapes we still have not seen, the ones with rape and sodomy of children and demand an answer from as to whether he thought any of this represents what this country is about.

They use words like 'waterboarding' because to many people it sounds fairly benign. But waterboarding was the least of it.

Otoh, maybe reporters fear for their lives when it comes to Cheney. But they could ask that question right at the beginning 'do I have to fear the same treatment as some of the victims of torture I would like to ask you about, Mr. Dick, IF I talk about them?.

16. You know what I love? Colonel Wilkerson calling Cheney "a frightened, frightened man"...
... for his reaction to 9-11 and all that followed. I've seen him do that a couple of times on Keith and Rachel's shows.

I think Colonel Wilkerson captures the essence of "Five Deferments Dick" with that.

Now as an opponent of the Vietnam War myself, I didn't have a problem with my contemporaries trying to avoid going into that meatgrinder. I have a HUGE problem with those who turned out to be only too willing to send other youngsters off to their deaths in a war THEY chose to create. Chickenhawks.

And here's Deadeye Dick, Bunker Boy himself, basing every decision on personal fear. Wilkerson has him to a tee.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/29/wilkerson-cheney-lonely-p_n_209182.html
Here is is quoted as calling him "lonely, paranoid, frightened Dick Cheney."

22. No actionable intelligence was received thru EIT (torture)
That is the verdict of those who have looked into the matter.

It is ridiculous to argue "if torture worked, it would be OK." That's the 800 pound non sequitur in the room. It doesn't work. End of discussion. To torture a prisoner or suspect expecting to get information from him is foolish. To torture a prisoner or suspect knowing that any real information is probably not forthcoming isn't interrogation; it's sadism. Either way, it's a war crime.

Mr. Cheney's touted documents do not demonstrate that any valuable intelligence was obtained by torture. They show what we already knew -- that those detainees who provided valuable information did so under conventional interrogation methods and, once strapped to the water board, they clammed up.

Any one who claims that water boarding is effective has to believe in witchcraft in order to make the claim. It was once considered very effective at getting witches to confess. It has also been shown that torture is effective at getting its victims to make propaganda statements, including false confessions to imaginary crimes, which no longer include witchcraft. It is known that a water boarding victim, Abu Faraj al-Libbi, provided "information" about Saddam's weapons programs and ties to terrorists which Bush Junta hacks used as "documentation" under Cheney's direction. So Cheney could claim that al-Libbi told investigators about Saddam's WMDs and ties to terror networks. It would have made a difference in the pre-war debate if he had added that al-Libbi revealed that "information" while being drowned.

I don't know whether Cheney believes in witchcraft, but that he is a liar is well-established fact. It offends me that this war criminal is this side of prison bars.

25. This interview offends the hell out of me.
Maybe they could play this at his trial. Apply it to any act that we "politicized" people would consider criminal: it's okay to threaten with a weapon as long as you don't use it, it's not illegal if it works...

I'm offended that he's brought this country down to this level. Why not ask the people you're supposed to be serving - do you want to be seen as evil by the rest of the world?

28. Well, Dicky...
You not being in jail offends the hell out of me.

It wasn't that the current administration doesn't "like" the opinions offered by your shill lawyers, it was that those opinions were wrong and illegal. When we torture, we become what the terrorists say we are. We become what the terrorists ARE.

You guys didn't prevent September 11th, even though you were given warnings all summer long that it was coming; warnings that you people completely ignored. You ignored those warnings; you showed contempt for the people giving you those warnings (all while your own administration higher-ups stayed safely away from commercial air during that summer.) Are we supposed to thank you for that? "Oh, well, we kept the country safe... after our utter incompetence (and complicity?) allowed the worst terrorist attack ever to occur on American soil."

Take your barn door and your horse and go fuck yourself, Mr. Cheney.

Why didn't he retire back to Jackson Hole, WY? Why is he settling down within sight of the CIA building? Is there a tunnel from it to his bedroom?

He needs to be far away from DC. And everyone he appointed or hired or worked closely with who is still in this administration needs an eye kept on them.

44. First off, Mr. Cheney, you stinking piece of pigshit . . .
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 10:30 PM by MrModerate
Your administration never brought *any* Al Quaida members to justice. You killed some people, tortured a bunch, and locked up even more in Cuba and in dungeons around the world, but you didn't bring anyone "to justice." The tiny number of actual trials (Padilla, and a few nuts here and there) never touched Al Quaida per se. The fact that you characterize the above actions as "justice" simply proves that you are a sociopath whose word can't be trusted on any subject whatsoever.

Secondly, what kind of a sick fuck says that because torture "worked" (which the intelligence community broadly denies, incidentally) makes it morally defensible? That's indistinguishable from the claim that giving Native Americans smallpox-laced blankets was a moral act because it made control of that population simpler for the authorities.

Thirdly, since when has a change of administration constituted a get out-of-jail-free card for any crimes committed before that change? Elections were never intended to trigger a statute of limitations. What's being proposed is the investigation of possibly criminal behavior. Who's sitting in the White House is totally irrelevant.

And that's just three of the amazing statements in this video. Cheney is an unrepentant monster. The full weight of the law needs to fall on his head and that of his partners in murder and treason.
