If you get a public option. And it is allowed to be established for a few years (ie. Obama gets re-elected) It will be difficult for a Repuke admin to dismantle it (much like medicare and social security). Then in 10 years, after a few private industry scandals, and folks realizing that guaranteed coverage ain't such a bad thing, there may be enough support to pass a bill that phases out the private companies.
But the main thing is getting Obama in for another term. There will be no doubt wrinkles to iron out in the first couple of years, and the Repukes will make sure that those wrinkles look like canyons to the eager-for-conflict MSM. President Palin  would immediately reverse the plan, push through an insurance friendly one, and then bask in the adoration that SHE solved the problem. Please don't let this happen.:puke:

5. Dean is really putting himself out there on this issue |
|
I am sure he believes what he says, not out of bravado, but because he a player. He knows.
Come on gang - Regardless of what gets said in what room, the House bill has a public option, and four of five Senate bills have a public option. Think about why the media only focuses on the Finance Committee bill. They have to play up the controversy, the clash of ideas, etc.
I've lost some confidence in Obama lately, but not in Dean. The man says it will be there, and there will be the votes to get it passed, and I believe him.
