If you don't follow sports or sports news the guy that signs his checks is even worse than Robert Henson.

And I'm not doing this to be cute either, I'm doing it because this is truly repugnant behavior.

But, by and large, the NFL, much like NASCAR, is pretty reliably a "red zone."

12. The commissioner yes-the rest is a mixed bag
the PGA is all Repub except for Faxon and Daly
MLB is mixed too but a lot of them want to hoard their huge money so they back the "lower taxes" nonsense
the NBA and basketball in general is almost completely Dems

I don't want to know their political affiliation. It would ruin the game for me.
Mixing politics and football is almost like mixing nitro and glycerin.

6. Why? Why does it "have" to be addressed?
I realize this is a politic site...and I come here to get a good dose of politics. But there are places in life that should just be fun. Unless the owners or players insert politics into actual team relations with their fans, as in advocating at the stadium or in press releases or email to fans, I see no reason at all why "this has to be addressed."

And I will go one further - This vid, rightfully decrying a stupid comment by a scrub professional football player had nothing to do with politics at all, much less Freepers.

An NFL team had a "REPUBLICAN DAY~ get 1/2 price off your tickets if you are a Republican on Game day" promotion, where they gave away free tee shirts that said "Liberals make poor Quarterbacks" or some such thing...

But hey!!! Don't tell me Who Frank Gore voted for in 2000, because I will put my fingers in my ears and go:

lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala!!!!

Go Niners!

And as long as I don't see his face in political adds, that is fine with me. One has nothing to do with the other UNLESS a situation such as you out lined takes place. LOL To my knowledge - no such promotions have been run.

I cringe when I watch FOX SPORTS broadcasting a game... knowing they also are affiliated with
Fox News.

Personally?... IF they had just Stayed JUST FOX SPORTS...I might have actually
liked the network!

and i totally agree. I only have one sport as my entertainment,( outside of my awesome relationship with my wife of 13 years, juno jones) and that is football. Keep politics and religion out of it, please. I know that is unlikely, but one can hope.

that being said I think I READ INTO both of them that they are reasonable and somewhat intelligent guys

Golic is from a family of at least NFL union guys so that should give you an idea about where he comes from

I do listen to them from time to time if there is no Skynyrd on the classics station

What if they were called the white skins or the black skins with a racist logo on their helmets?

19. No...no "they" aren't a "racist team."
The "they" you refer to in its narrowest definition are the players (98% of whom are people of color), who don't do anything but play for the organization that pays them. In its widest sense it is a couple hundred folks who work for the team in various capacities. I bet no a one actually has anything against native Americans.

The name has roots in a time when racism against Native Americans was the "norm" and it should be changed. But there is a whole group of people and a whole history of the team totally divorced from the racist origin of the name, which makes changing the name really not OK with the FAN base, you know - the people who pay the teams bills.

Again I agree that name would be better changed - but you go to far when you say "it is a racist team by definition." Calm the f down.

24. My radical lefty connection in Bawlmer had the answer for that
"What if it were the Washington Kikes?"

This is also the guy who figured out how to deal with robocalls: he dragged out an old, horribly out-of-tune sax, waited for the beep, and blew a long, sour note reminiscent of elephants in heat into the receiver!

26. Back in the early 60's, the Redskins would always play the song "Dixie" before a game.
Hell, they had to be forced to integrate the team. Because their racist owner wouldn't.
