Hondurans loyal to the country's deposed president have faced severe restrictions on freedom of assembly, speech and movement since the country's de facto leaders imposed an emergency order which they said was aimed at preventing the political crisis in the country from deepening.

Two media stations loyal to Manuel Zelaya, the country's ousted leader, were shut down just hours after the decree was imposed last week. Police also moved to break-up pro-Zelaya demonstrations in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital.

Scores of Zelaya supporters were arrested by security forces at the height of the crackdown, with many transferred to high-security
jails. Monica Villamizar visited the largest women's prison in Honduras to see how the inmates were faring.

1. Still no word from the Obama administration on this travesty...
(Unless you count blaming Zelaya for returning.)

If Micheletti and the golpistas succeed in hanging on to power, I fear it will spread across the rest of Latin-America, like it did in the 1970's and '80's.

while death squad killings are in the news in one day, along with finding one victim's body brutally tortured.

Jimmy Carter should go to Washington to teach a few people the meaning of human rights, Obama included.

3. Carter wasn't a saint himself when he was in office.
Backing the military rulers of El Salvador and the facist dictatorship of Suharto in Indonesia (only a couple of years after the invasion of East Timor) have cost many people their lives.

4. He was a champion of human rights
at least by American Presidential standards, he stood out in this regard in contrast to his predecessors.

5. Omg. This is Agustina! Thank god those brutos didn't kill her.
This is totally retribution for her sister's work among the indigenous people. Fuck the Pinochettis.

6. And Micheleti wants to talk about amnesty today = FOR HIMSELF!
But, how do you bring back the death squad victims, how do you give the prisoners their lives back?
