Top GOP Rep. Concedes Party Should Have Fixed Health Care While In Power

A Republican member of Congress made a pretty striking admission about his own party’s FAIL today during an entertaining exchange with — who else? — Dem Rep. Barney Frank.

The key moment came during a debate moderated by CNBC this morning, when GOP Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin openly conceded that his party should have fixed health care while in power — and even expressed regret at the GOP’s failure to do so. Dems say the comment perfectly encapsulates the GOP’s fundamental unseriousness about reform.

The exchange kicked off when Ryan claimed that multiple aspects of our health care crisis could be solved without a “government takeover” of health care. Frank called him out, pointedly asking why Republicans hadn’t figured out that the health care crisis could be solved (their way) during all the years they were in power.

1. That's Okay, We'll Get the Same Solution Anyway.
The piece of shit known as HR3200. Crafted by a Democrat majority in the House, Senate and with a Democrat President. Too fucking stupid to believe!

3. It's bullshit
can't have it both ways. They had no interest in fixing it just like they do today. this is just CYA.

5. Actually, the Republicans do have transformational ideas on health care
They think it should not be provided by the employer. They think it should not be "pre-paid"--in other words, catastrophic care only. Rep. Ryan once introduced legislation to abolish the SCHIP program.

Many Republicans see Paul Ryan as a future presidential candidate. Bill Bennett really wants him to run some day. He may run for the Senate in 2012 if Herb Kohl retires.
