The funnier ones are when he is in character, ie. a right wing fascist, and is pissed off at some good news for the left.

If, like Ian David says, the character was pretending to be leftist, thats not logical (you can't imagine the real Hitler doing that) or as funny (as an uncompromising reich wing pig getting pwned by the left).

The way it is, its more of a slam on DU and leftists. Positioning Hitler as a leftist (like the Teabaggers do) and making fun or minimizing all progressive stances as just things leftists do to get a Nobel prize.

Maybe I'm over-analyzing, but I think this belongs on a Freeper board.

28. I'm beginning to think you're probably correct.

What confused me was Hitler abandoning all the trappings of Liberalism-- taking the solar panels off the roof (like Reagan did).

That made me think the only reason Hitler joined Code Pink and put solar panels on his roof was to impress The Nobel Prize Committee.

A REAL Liberal would have kept the solar panels on the roof regardless of whether they won The Nobel Prize or not.

But I think you're right. I think this video was made by a right-winger, rather than someone on the center-left who rightly thinks the Troofers are nuts.

I'm hoping someone will make a better version that's more solidly Liberal.

For every one-in-a-million "chicken-wire", 9/11 simulations posted here, we get whole Republican "think-tanks" brimming with half-wits, turning out farcical, indeed, sometimes catastrophically erroneous assessments. That's quite apart from inputs by the sages of Free Republic. In fact, I'm not sure our "chicken-wire" man isn't actually smarter than some of the guys you look up to in the field of "Science", judging by your posts - though perhaps not in the area of physics.

I'm not sure that you were any more confused than the makers of the video were. If they are Republicans, it only goes to show how stupid they are, since Hitler is always the raving idiot in these clips, and they were obliged to have Hitler exposed as a sham progressive, for the video to work. So, it's great fun replaying the "Democratic Underground" bit.

If it was wingnuts who made it, they shot themselves in feet, just to score a negligible glancing blow, and gave us all a laugh at their expense. Negligible because it is no secret that DU is widely respected for the quality of a significant number of its posts. Not that the way we progressives spread our net very far and very wide doesn't leave us open at times to some flip and and sometimes amusing bumper-sticker jibes. But it goes with the territory and is worth the flak. So, there is an element of that humour in the clip, as well - which kind of makes it a "rounded" and easy humour. Not too po-faced.

Even if I knew it, it would do me no good. If you understand what is really being said, it is ten times as
difficult to make up subtitles that say something different. If all you hear is a bunch of Teutonic-sounding
gibberish, it is a snap to make up whatever you want, as you aren't influenced by the original.

The real work of genius was the German comedian who overdubbed a fiery speech by Hitler (the real thing) with
an impassioned complaint about how he (Hitler) had been sucked into a car-leasing contract by the "Issmeyer
Company," and how he had sued them for misleading him, and won a moral victory (according to him) but lost the
case in court. Tears were streaming down my cheeks when I heard that one--one of the funniest videos I ever saw.

I am very interested in insane church signs, however :evilgrin:
