What is Joe trying to say when he tells Al "don't take it personally?"

I just find that an odd statement?

drove me crazy for a couple of days. While playing with the audio in a video editor I realized he did begin the sentence with "I" though you almost can't pick up on it.

But it is obvious that Joe did take it personally.

You know that Liebermann is going to nail Franken the first chance he gets over this. If you subscribe to the theory that Joe is enacting vengeance on all those Connecticut Dems that DID NOT VOTE for him in the Democratic Primary.
