8. the boy ain't been right since that head trauma
Really

January 2004: http://www.helenair.com/news/state-and-regional/article_b65a8043-8a1a-5a97-a972-266e2b44b265.html

WASHINGTON --Montana Senator Max Baucus underwent urgent surgery in Arizona on Friday to relieve pressure on his brain.

Baucus will likely be released from the hospital this weekend and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the senator's physician. The pressure on his brain was likely caused by a head injury that Baucus, 62, suffered when he tripped and hit his head on a rock during a 50-mile running race on Nov. 20.

...

The pressure on his brain was the result of a subdural hematoma, which is bleeding between the brain and its outer surface or dura. Former President Ronald Reagan had similar injury and surgery after falling off a horse and hitting his head in 1989.

...

{more at link}

more about ol Mad Max, with mention of then-wife Wanda and her arrest (also in 2004):
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/061110/10baucusfacts.htm

...
His hobbies include hunting and fishing, and he's an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast. In 2000 Baucus, his brother John, and cousins Chase and Whit Hibbard attended the famed Harley rally in Sturgis, S.D. In 2004, Baucus suffered a head injury when he swerved to miss a car and crashed his Harley into a guardrail in Montana.

Mid-life crisis Max needs to step down. He ain't right in the head. Same sort of injury as Reagan, they say. Hmm, must've damaged that part of the brain that keeps you from being a total tool of the corporations.

10. He is slurring his words, which is the sign of drinking. Perhaps he is trying
to self-medicate to forget that he has denied millions a better health care option.

We know what you are, we're just negotiating the price.

13. For me the sign that it is real, is
that he repeats emphasis words 2 times or three times continually, as he goes on and on and on. That can't be doctored in with varying inflection and different ways of slurring the same word.

12. By who, C-SPAN?
Then why don't you post the link from the C-SPAN archives directly yourself to show that.

If the C-SPAN archives don't show slurred words, then you have a case. Otherwise, I'll go with the obvious: drunk.

20. Was this directly from CSPAN? Yikes if so. But the slurring sound is repetitive in equal
intervals. It is as if the tape is malfunctioning. Like it slows and speeds. I don't like the dude but it really sounds "odd" to me. Have worked with multi-media and I am not totally convinced.

21. Here's a clip from c-span.
Let the c-span clip play a minute or to, then you'll come to the part that is posted on youtube.

Can you tell if the youtube clip has been altered?

14. mandatory insurance
He is the one who pushed so hard for that to be a part of it. Even back in the summer.

Of course, having this video put into campaign commercials with the tagline "This man is the reason you are now forced to by insurance" and then tying him to the incumbent Senator or Representative won't cause any seats to be lost. No, none at all. It will all be magically better. The people will love the forced mandate and will re-elect everyone who voted for it.......

15. My three impressions are
1. Baucus is inebriated.

2. He's still correct about the Republicans not having the courage to buck the powers that be and negotiate in a constructive manner the best possible health care reform for the American People.

3. Point 1 is true because Baucus sees too much of him self; reflected in the Republican self-serving political behavior of point 2.

16. I hear the slurring, but I do not see any
weaving, balance problems and his sentence/thought structure is logical, sequential.
usually by the time you are drunk enough to slur your speech, there are other noticeable problems with
speaking, balance, eye contact.
My observation, for what it is worth, having seen a lot of serious drunks in my line of work.

Might be Bell's Palsy or something. I know nothing about this but I'd like to hear what some of resident experts, like Warpy, would say.

23. I'd like to see all 100 of them drunk with the doors locked...
and each one of them get up and talk and hear what they would say and see what sort of fights would break out!
That would drive the C-Span ratings out of the roof!

19. What's embarrasing is assuming he's drunk.
I'm more interested in what he had to say, however. > Republicans refused to advance the health care agenda, with numerous attempts by Democrats to allow them to help the country.

25. He's not drunk. He is just really pissed off and his blood pressure is through the roof!
I have been like this too. I found it not to be persuasive. My knees get shakey and my thoughts get rambly. My emotions get ahead of my thoughts. Nice to see it in him though.:hi:

I like being the smartass better. It keeps my blood pressure down cause I get to giggle.
