1. THIS IS BS! MA voters would have to be the most ignorant in the country if 82% of those who voted
for Brown did so because the healthcare bill did not go far enough. As a bay-stater, as a progressive, and as someone who also supports a public option, I would have to be a moron to believe that 82% of those who feel like me would vote for a republican, thoughbeit a very moderate R.

4. Flexibility of mind to process two seemingly contradictory ideas is necessary.

6. You might be right if their votes couldn't be interpreted or this gave stark control

to the opposition, but the people of Massachusetts's votes were magnified to the fifth power in regards to sending a message.

The first was in the actual vote, the second was in the exit polling, giving their voice and vote additional power, the third was in having the nation's only running election with all the hype and national attention that goes with it, the fourth was in the emotional impact of being among the nation's most liberal states in repudiating what they consider to be a continuance down the same corporate supremacist road by those leaders, they had earlier supported and the fifth was in having this take place in the early part of an election year; giving their usually favored party; ample time to correct course.

8. Interesting, I suppose a fifth of Mass Dem voters may have thought along those lines...
and calculated that a protest vote was worth it. Maybe they thought President Obama was letting the Kennedy torch slip too far and wanted to make sure it burned him a bit?

(the Kennedys themselves let their own torch slip at times I'm sure)
