It was celebration and reflection today, in South Africa and around the world, as the 20th anniversary of former president Nelson Mandelas release from prison was marked. That event was the first in an historic chain of events that would see South Africas transition from apartheid to a democratic state and Mandelas election as its first black president.

1. I have can still remember Mandela's Birthday Party in London. 1986?

He was still in prison and the only picture they had of him was one that was taken maybe twenty years before as he was booked into that prison. Wow how time has flown.

George Bush said "There are no more Mandelas" When talking about Iraq. Dick Cheney voted against the resolution in Congress urging the South Africans to free Mandela. If it were up to Repuglicans there would be no Mandelas period!
