We are half the population and deserve half the representation. I believe all Congressional districts should require one woman and one male congressperson. Of course we probably would have to combine districts to do it to make sure the same number of Congressmen/women are there, but it could work. I also think each state should elect a male and a female senator.
As far as board rooms, since corporations are kingdoms anyway, you know there would be a queen and ladies-in-waiting with no power anyway.

6. So I guess a majority of incompetent males is better. |
|
An incompetent female against and incompetent male is a much more equal match.

7. All in all, I think the entire system should be changed |

1 rep per 250-500,000 people. Vote for 1st choice and 2nd choice, and you send more then one to the house. More like a parliamentary system.
But then again, if your going to allow just women to be picked, what's to stop black people demanding the same thing?
Or Jews... Catholics.... Indians.... Asian... whites? Then we have to have a percentage of all in the house. While it may sound nice,
It would just make things to damn complicated and unworkable, even more so then they are now.
Besides, what's with forcing people to do anything? I don't like the idea of "forced" no matter where it comes from, even for a good cause.

8. Then, perhaps the same criteria for men and women? |
|
Which maybe means that there's a bit of a problem with hiring and management processes, or we'd have more viable candidates and a better fleet of upper management?
Boy, this reminds me a little of how to fix Congress because you have to look at who's supplying the candidates.

2. She lost me when she asserted that the left might demand something else.... |
|
She believes that women in the boardroom have been given lots of presence, but that the outcome has been poor. Well, I can't help thinking this is so,because the world economy is and has been so poor.

3. Interesting idea, Thom. |
|
Obviously, our feckless Congress will never do such a thing. (gotta keep the powder dry...)
One would think that since corporations hold a charter to exist from the government, that WE THE PEOPLE, could do that. But after the SCOTUS ruling, I think that is just fantasy now.

But they should crack down on these bullshit corps. We have bigger problems right now then just having women in the board room.
besides, most of those people are criminals anyways. What's this going to solve? Not enough female criminals?
