1. Obama's speech at the Call to Renewal Conference sponsored by Sojourners |
|
Okay this is a bit off topic, but the OP reminded me of a speech Obama gave on June 28 2006, when he spoke in Washington at the Call to Renewal Conference sponsored by Sojourners. So here's the links to his speech - which in my opinion is one of his best ;) Barack Obama Series: Faith/Politics Part ONE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFOdOht5CcsPart TWO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOGVw-XljRMPart Three: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8Nb0oWAW-IPart Four: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=begmUPHD-X8Part Five: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFPK8xNFSSoI hope that anyone that has not heard this speech enjoys it and will pass the links along to anyone that you think would also enjoy it.

3. I just wondering when people will come to the realization that Beck is bat shit crazy. |
|
He's also a college drop out, recovering alcoholic, and ex drug addict. Makes you wonder what on earth people see in him. Glad to see the religious community speaking up. Wish they'd do it more often.

4. Yes, Jesus did, but Beck's REAL God, Ayn Rand, DIDN'T! |
|
Make no mistake about it.
Glenn Beck's God is Ayn Rand. His Jesus is John Galt His Holy Ghost is The Invisible Hand of the Free Market His Bible is Atlas Shrugged His Concordance is The Road To Serfdon His St. Peter is Von Hayek His St. Paul is Milton Friedman
Glenn Beck isn't a Christian, he's a ¢hri$tian.

5. No wonder the Catholic Church is publicly supporting Obama's health care program. |
|
Huh...the Catholic Church must have heard Beck. Beck is out of control and of the all the religions of the world. Catholics are the ones you really don't want to fuck with---especially in America.

6. So, It's Ok for FOX to publicly target people as enemies |
|
by asking people to report on each other? Does anybody else see the irony and hypocrisy of this man starting his screed while trying to redefine Nazis? This man is just like one of them! Someday I am confident he and those like him trying to make fellow americans into enemies will pay a very heavy price. That would be a form of social justice...

This is, so far, the best thing you have said to drive people away from believing in your insanity. So, Rupert, you've given him plenty of rope, maybe now he has hung both of you.

Uh huh....
:eyes:
And you thought what Glenn Beck says is useless!
Anyway, Beck is talking about government programs when he says "social justice". They can muddy it all up with theology if they want, but it's code for welfare. Not corporate welfare mind you. (or tax exempt status) It's just personal welfare. Beck is passing on a conservative meme I've heard a lot lately... good works are for the individual to do, not government.
It's funny and ironic. It's like Pat Robertson, and Jerry Falwell (remember the "god wants you to be rich" crowd?) when they would get together and start riffing on camera. In that insulated, seemingly safe studio full of kindreds, they eventually put their foots in their big mouths.... because the lack of logic and sincerity in their acts will, if they aren't careful, bring out the hubris. Glenn is just another preacher. I wonder what The Family, to whom so many conservatives belong, has to say about Beck's comments. (Actually.... I don't)
And remember, don't anyone....anyone at all, criticize the church!
