2. I feel the need to point out that Katrina killed over 1,800 people

and destroyed a good chunk of a major city. And Bush is at fault for many of those deaths because he failed to send rescuers. Just sayin'.

Now, this whole "maybe it was terrorists" "maybe Obama let it spill" controversy is something they're just pulling out of their Foxhole, and they KNOW it isn't true. If Obama is guilty of anything, it's of counting too heavily on the oil industry to stop the leak, clean this up, etc. The government should come in hard, stop this mess, and hand the oil company the bill. Count on Fox to find the one possible fantasy argument where they can blame this on Obama but not on BP.

Katrina did not CAUSE the flooding of NOLA. The breaking of the levies AFTER the storm went through did.

Who are you gonna blame? How about the Army Corps of Engineers. Actually, they were doing what they were told to do. How about blaming it on deregulation and ignoring the maintenance of infrastructure. And we all know who is mainly responsible for that and when it started.

Deregulation is the culprit is both cases.

3. Sometimes I wonder if they don't say this stuff to pre-empt us when it's warranted.

And I'm not saying it was intentional, but Halliburton did have the last interaction with the rig before it blew. Whether through negligence or not, sometimes I wonder if they don't say this outlandish stuff just so we don't look just as bad when we try to lay blame at the feet of a specific company, or on lax safety regulations.

Just think--if Jeb Bush does become president, and runs as Hitler-iffic a regime as some fear, how are we going to be able to protest without looking like TeaBaggers? Sometimes I think this absurd stuff they throw out there is pre-emptive.

But we don't look just as bad. "We" aren't making shit up. "We" are following sound logic and empirical evidence. "We" are not jumping sharks. "They" don't even make sense. (But because "they" project so much, what kind of disaster would "they" stage for political reasons?????)



"Their" speculations will not help the situation or prevent a repeat in the future. "Their" speculations are useless for solving problems. "Our" inquiries have a purpose.... prevention and improvement.

If the audience cannot tell the difference.... that cannot be helped. But "their" audience is small. Remember, "they" are a minority. On the TV "they" look like a huge significant number of people, but this is not so.
