1. Not even close
Gee, I as just an everyday American citizen could look at the aftermath of Katrina and figure out that those people would need food, clothing, shelter, security, in some cases medical care and long term help in rebuilding their communities. So for a President with the help of FEMA and even the military to figure out what to do shouldn't have taken much thought (Yes I know the President at the time wasn't known for his ability to think). Now you look at a deep sea oil drilling catastrophe, I would have no idea of how to attack such a problem. I would probably do close to what Obama has done in listening to and letting those that are supposed experts take their best shots at solving the problem and make government resources available on request. It is not nearly as obvious on how to attack this man made catastrophe as it is to help after a natural one. We have dealt with hurricanes and their aftermath forever not so deep sea oil wells blowing up. To try to equate this man made disaster with Katrina and then equate Bushes reaction to one with Obama's reaction to the other is just ridiculous on it's face.

2. Did I hear that right? Obama went golfing during the oil spill?
I find that infuriating. This president has become a DLC Republican suck-up and country club denizen.

And his press conference on the spill sounded like "Slick Barry" for lack of a more original term. He was smooth as silk but the bottom line is he won't fully dissociate from the oil industry and keeps following consultants' play book of being for offshore drilling even though that oil will all be sold on the open market, to China, Brazil or whoever and is meaningless for American energy independence.

3. Repug really does = REPUKE, in this case.
Coming from the 'Drill, Baby, Drill!' crowd, that's rich. This new talking point is laying it on a bit thick. The repugs wanted the oil companies to have their way. They still do, as an official party plank. 'NO REGULATIONS' is what the Cheney Energy task force fought for (a half million bucks for a stop gap switch is too expensive for BP's multi-billion dollar annual profit margin to endure). There's a bush appointed repug in charge of the whole shebang (Int. Dept. MMS). Who knows if Obama really went golfing, but we DEFINITELY do know that li'l bush was on VACATION in TX (right next door to LA) before Katrina hit, he was fully briefed, he did nothing to help the American citizens there. He cut the Corp of Engineers budget for flood control in the event that the levees failed, he put a crony corporation in charge of disaster preparedness (IEM, or Innovative Emergency Management, a big repug contributor). IEM stole the money and produced no written plan. He put an 'Arabian horse judge' crony in charge of FEMA, he mobilized the Louisiana National Guard to Iraq (in order to defend Louisiana), so the state had no personnel or equipment to help in this disaster. He went to CA (a thousand miles in the opposite direction from the disaster) after the hurricane landfall, in order to learn how to play the guitar, while his SEC. OF STATE Rice SHOPPED FOR SHOES in NY. How is Obama ever gonna compete with this litany of repug crooked creepiness?
Obama isn't perfect, he's an Illinois pol (with possible CIA ties, via Business Investment Corp.). But while Illinois may be Daley Mob country, it isn't oil country or repug country, unlike OILYGARCHICAL TX (bush/Cheney), AK(Palin/Stevens), WY(Cheney/Teapot Dome), and other repug strongholds. All the oil money is going to the repugs, today. Those oil nazis, who back the repugs at every turn -- they own this disaster, and they own the ONGOING Katrina disaster as well. Sorry to sound so angry, it's just that I'm still mad about how these oily NAZI guys tried to kill Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway in "Three Days of the Condor". I just got out of the loo, where I've been VOMITing with rage (thank you Doug Adams) for 3 hours. To HIT THE HIGH POINTS, in all-caps, (three letters or more only): REPUKE, NO REGULATIONS, MMS, DEFINITELY, bush (I know it's a low-case, but it can't be helped) VACATION, IEM, FEMA, SEC. OF STATE SHOPPED FOR SHOES in NY, CIA, OILYGARCHICAL TX, ONGOING, NAZI, VOMIT, HIT THE HIGH POINTS. 'Vomit' is just another word for 'puke'.
P.S. On behalf of our hispanic compatriots in AZ, I'd just like to add, POR FAVOR, VAYA CON DIOS, PENDEHOS.
