More importantly, why wasn't Exxon fined like this? BP will be able to skate out these fines on that basis alone. Exxon should have gone out of business with the Valdez incident, and BP should be driven out over this one. When oh when are we going to have some accountability in this country????? No accountability with the mortgage companies, none with the banks, and now and forevermore NONE with the oil companies. We need publicly funded elections now more than ever. It is the fundamental problem underlying all of these situations. There is no one in office now that has not been contaminated by the corporate culture and wholesale ownership of our government. If you can name me one politician that is not owned outright, you get all the brownie points in the world. Bet you can't? :wtf: :grr: :nuke: :puke:

Jail the company principals until the fine is paid. You'd be amazed how quickly that moves things along. The appeals take second place. It works.
