Speaks volumes. _________ Other clips from this show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxkscmtBrkshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMmolGiRFa0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlBLFHnfTRQhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZenXwD_viQs

1. Why cant they spike the boom into place ? |
|
Almost like a tent spike. Obv they would need strong rings and shollow water but atleast it would not get to the shore ?

2. I know NOTHING about booms, but common sense tells me.. . . |
|
1. A spike has to to be driving into something solid enough to hold it. Water is not solid. And I'm not being facetious. These booms float on the water.
2. Spiking them into the underlying seabed would have to be done in very very very shallow water, at which point the oil is too close to shore already.
3. Booms have to be able to float on the surface, which is where much of the oil is going to be also. If they're spiked to the seabed, they can't float on the surface. Because of tides the depth of the water where they'd be spiked would change constantly, so if spiked, there would have to a mechanism to change the length of the spike.
Or I could be wrong.

I want to see people in fucking prison right now. I want to see this God Damn administration grow some balls and take fucking charge of this disaster. It becomes more clear every day that corporations and government are out to rob and kill us.

any kind of wind or surf and the oil goes right past it even if it's maintained properly. The dispersants make the booms even less effective because they keep the oil from surfacing.

11. That's a Good Question |
|
The rumor I heard on progressive talk is that the tankers are full of oil and they don't want to unload them because there's a surplus of oil right now and it would drive prices down.

7. RM is one of the few media sources... |

...that isn't trying to downplay this disaster or whitewash it.
This is Pulitzer-worthy reporting, IMHO. K&R.
