Eg, the anti-Muslim rantings of many on our media goes unopposed. 'Ragheads', 'camel-jockeys', 'terrorists' etc. coming from the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, not to mention his rabid anti-gay attacks, yet he is given respect by the MSM whenever he is mentioned by them. Never called on his bigotry.

No Republican member of Congress has been asked to resign or even condemned for some of the racism they have exhibited towards the Muslim community, many of whom are American citizens.

Helen is getting a lot of support, I am happy to see, around the internet. The rightwingers of course are simply vile, as always, attacking her own ethnicity with impunity.

Thanks Helen for your years of service to this country, for being an impartial reporter, holding presidents accountable no matter which party they came from.

If Helen were a Republican who repeatedly uttered racist remarks against Muslims, the right would defend her but the left are famous for running scared when one of their own is attacked. Look what happened to Van Jones and ACORN eg.

One remark out of more than half a century of reporting and the left is too scared to support her. Sad.

It would be great if the outright bigotry against Muslims expressed by Republican members of Congress and their favorite media personnel were to receive some condemnation but apparently bigotry against Muslims, including Muslim Americans is acceptable.


One comment in over half a century of reporting and the left is cowering in fear of being associated with her now. Disgusting really, no wonder we are under the thumb of the rabid rightwing in this country even when we are in the majority.

If this situation were reversed and she was a Rightwing bigot like Rush Limbaugh, whose vile anti-Muslim and anti-gay and black comments are merely brushed aside, yet he has far more influence over the way people think than Helen ever had, she would be defended loudly by every rightwing pundit on the air. She would be given a contract to write a book and funded while she did so.

But her record will hold up in the history of journalism and it will be the atmosphere that exists in our current society of selective censorship that will be noted and not in a good way.

I wish the WH would condemn the killing of nine peace activists, and that Joe Biden would understand that the killing of a U.S. citizen IS a big deal, a bigger deal than an emotional comment by a longtime reporter. But our priorities ARE a bit skewed these days. Helen deserves condemnation but not the killers of those peace activists.
