1. Do socialists still carry cards? Nowadays they're probably
credit cards.

3. i dunno but when I donate to the ACLU
I get a little card so that I can annoy my conservative relatives by reminding them that they are related to a "card carrying member" of the ACLU.

it never fails.

4. I have a social Security card, so I guess I am a card carrying socialist...
at least in the view of the right.

And so are they.

if we were a Democratic Socialist country like in Northern Europe?! (without a monarchy)

We would then be a true beacon to the rest of the world.

Cheers
Sandy

6. Wharton's description,
the application of democratic principles to the economy, is spot on about socialism.
That is what socialism is, and in a socialist framework, there is room for individualism in expression and basic forms of commercial activity.

8. Not bad. Not bad at ALL
Of course I WOULD think so. :)

My big focus as a socialist is on the worker owned businesses. I personally think that a socialist government should give NO COST loans to the workers at manufacturing plants that have been closed and the jobs shipped overseas by the capitalists in order to start up production again and compete DIRECTLY AGAINST THOSE CAPITALISTS. These loans would be administered by the collective membership, Unions whenever possible. If the plants were NON Union, then an appropriate Union organization would be placed in the "ownership" position for a limited time until the company organized it's OWN managing structure. I've read so much about factories that were closed down that were actually MAKING profit, just not ENOUGH profit. They would be my FIRST priority for these loans.

This would be one HELL of a lot better use of 3/4 of a TRILLION dollars than GIVING it to Wall St WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED. This would be a TRUE Main St. bailout.
