1. I do think the US (media included) has lied a lot about Hugo Chavez
I'm glad Stone is clearing a path so people can discuss this figure without having to feel worried about attacks.

2. A Florida republican indignantly accusing someone of stealing an election...
Edited on Thu Jun-10-10 11:51 AM by abq e streeter
had to stop right there because I was laughing too hard ( and I'm no fan of Chavez, but talk about pot , meet kettle)......Of course the results of that little theft in Fla. have had consequences that even the word disastrous seem inadequate to describe, but for that moment when Connie Mack said that, I just started literally laughing out loud. Guess I'll watch the rest of it now, and probably (?) end up editing this, but even for a republican, saying BS like that with a straight face is just mind-boggling.

Well, after watching the whole thing ( both parts) I was glad to see Stone openly laughing at Mack too... What a tool. But as I have reiterated in post after post on DU since joining 3 years ago....jackasses like Mack are simply a symptom. The millions upon millions of idiots across the country who vote for people like him to be their voice as elected representatives, are the disease.

This is a symptom too. A symptom of lousy education and the triumph of anti-intellectualism. It blossomed completely in the Bush Administration.

15. Absolutely right...
your two main culprits plus the appalling state of "news' media... and not just Fox, but with rare exception, all of it. The intentional and wildly successful dumbing down, that to me, really showed its face with the election of Reagan ( and actually, George Wallace was the harbinger of it). I guess I called the "idiots" the disease because they do , theoretically , have an opportunity to figure out what's really going on and start to defy it. Without them, people like Mack et al would have no public voice. Instead they embrace it with ,as you said, a pride in their anti-intellectualism. These despicable politicians are the symptom to me, because they are interchangeable and replaceable. If it wasn't Connie Mack, Bachmann, Palin, Cheney, and on and on,it would be someone else. That's why I see those voters as the disease. They are the ones that make the decision to make people like that their voice. I am not smart enough myself to know what to do about this, and I despair greatly over the future of this country. I never thought I'd live to see a level of ugliness and ignorance take hold to the extent it has. And for the most part, our party's leadership has, in my opinion ( I have no idea if you agree or not with this assessment) shown an unwillingness, inability or disinterest ( or all three) to grasp the depth of danger this ignorance poses.

6. I saw it and was screaming..and our CIA hasn't used Venezuela or the South American countries for
Edited on Thu Jun-10-10 02:29 PM by flyarm
Drug Running?? ..I was screaming begging Jesse to say it or Stone..but they didn't say it..I guess even they are afraid to say it out loud with Larry Old Man King..

I lived in Venezuela in the 70's ..Perez was president and best friends with my husbands employer at the time.. .Pres Perez was totally run by our CIA and US Oil companies!

I danced with the VP of Venezuela at two holiday affairs..and told the man while dancing how horrible his leaders were to the People of Venezuela..he laughed at me and told me American women were to idealistic..and he said I should look more to cleaning up my own government before looking into his!

Oh the stories I could tell..

Well, a repug would certainly recognize that!

What a bunch of crap. What politician from anywhere with any party does not manipulate the people?

Mack is a disingenuous idiot.
