3. Is anyone else noticing that these reich-wingers go pretty soft with Stewart? |
|
Bill Kristol was another example of this. He seemed to soften his rhetoric, add more qualifiers and basically took a defensive, almost submissive attitude with Stewart.

to be as confrontational when they are in the direct presence (live and unedited) of someone with the mental stature and cojones to take them on to their face.
I will admit, however, that, not having seen this Hayes fellow before, he seemed much more reasonable than most of the others...liar though he may be...

he is funny but I sometimes think he missed a more serious calling. He gets his point across........ Then again Humor gets through to a lot of people who other wise wouldn't be paying attention.

8. Jon uses logic-kryptonite to neocon apologists |
|
Stewart asks the basic questions our media should have asked in 2002, while we were being set up for the Iraq war. It is too late, of course, but at least history will record that Americans woke up.
Hayes only seemed mildly interested in arguing the points. He really couldn't get anywhere, what with Stewart's dastardly use of reason an logic.

10. That was Jon at his best |
|
One of the things I like about Jon Stewert is that he SHOWS his emotions...
Last night, he was clearly disgusted with the book Cheney and set about confronting the author on his lies.....he did it brilliantly \
Honestly I didn't think the audience was going to let Hayes get out of the studio alive!

Hayes strikes me as someone who grabbed the chance to sell out, in exchange for money and his 15 minutes of fame, when he was offered access to Cheney.
The foundations of our country and our liberty are carried on the backs of people like Jon Stewart. They are our Patrick Henry's.

He gets out the set of ginsu knives and goes to work. When he is finished, all their valueless morals and empty rhetoric are in little pieces at their feet.

I can quit anytime I want, but then my arm starts to itch. So I start the video again, and the itch goes away. Ahhhh--sweet relief.
But that's not because I'm addicted to the truth told to power and watching Jon so eloquently questioning and saying everything I've ever wanted to hear a news broadcaster say or question when they have interviewed the people who support this war and the Bush Administration.
When that 1994 Cheney clip was shown on the "Situation Room," the reporter quoted Cheney for the last word without a moment of follow-up. Seriously--with 135 all news channels, why is journalism dead? Oh wait, the answer to my question is in my question.
Oh dear--there's that itch again--gotta run. :-)

today is the day I wish I had a video iPod so I could listen to this exchange over and over again while I'm on the train.
What Comedy Central should do is put out a compilation of video clips of Jon Stewart smack-downs--just for me.
See you guys on the flip side.

29. What a POS that guy is. |
|
I understand why Cheney is who he is. It is about the power and the money -- aka the oil.
But this author is a moron. Only a complete idiot would try to defend Cheney. This is one of those times where there simply isn't another side to the story. None of the rationalizations this guy offered made any sense at all.

30. I'm constantly amazed as his ability to script and improvise seamlessly. |
|
It's got to be nerve wracking to be in that chair next to him, although I've seen him be incredibly kind to the occasional awe struck guest who admires and understands the humor, but just knows he/she can't keep up with his repartee. He'll throw out a couple of zingers and then back off.
Unless they try to BS him. :-)

I watched this clip tonight, and I couldn't believe this idiot was saying what he was saying, and then he manages to MISS the points that John tries to make with him. He is lost in denial and I think he must've had darth's thumb up his ass while he made his points and wrote his book...cause it sure as hell isn't complete or rational.
