1. But they're OK with the ones ...
... who have their own radio shows (Limbaugh); or the ones who should be medicated to come back to reality (Beck).

4. ever lived a day on unemployment?
i don't know about you, but i like to go out for dinner and drinks with friends, buy cool bling for my bikes and stuff, go see a movie. try doing that and making rent, eating, buy gas, etc. on unemployment. i spent 13 months without a job. my benes ran out in six months forcing me to burn through my savings and eventually having to file for bankruptcy. five years later, i still have trouble getting credit and trying to rent a place. i don't know a SINGLE person who has collected unemployment that was content to live off it. not ONE.

6. A couple of comments
1. Remember the average Social Security recipient gets about $13,000 per year.

2. As one who did fundraising for a homeless project for eight years, I can say that once people lose their jobs and their homes, they also lose their emotional balance. (They are not mentally disabled, not mentally ill. It's just that being homeless makes it difficult for you to have a sense of territory, of place, of security that you need to keep in balance.) And then, once they are jobless, homeless, familyless and out of balance, it is very, very difficult, if not impossible for many of them to get back in balance so that they can keep a job.

You cannot live in Los Angeles on $13,000 per year and work. You cannot afford the transportation and clothing costs, much less the food. You just cannot do it.
