1. Ed is absolutely right, and what he's saying has been one of |
|
my biggest fears since Obama got elected. This is how the rich and powerful operate. They've had the upper hand for a good long while in this country, and they're not going to back down. The Republicans are total douche bags. They're in the pockets of these large corporations. They'd rather see millions of Americans suffer than allow a more progressive agenda, or a democrat, to succeed. It's really that simple. They should be named and shamed.

3. The American people have yet |
|
to recognize the danger of corporate rule. They will find out. But I fear it will be too late.
The Republicans are anti-American, no doubt. They are only following the lead of their corporate masters. These corporations feel no allegiance to the nation-none.

4. I think this class hegemony thing |
|
has gone just a little too far. In hegemony, the subjugated person or class is complicit in the act of subjugation. That's what's going on in the U.S. It's about time we gave every insult the upper crust gives us back to their faces and in public.

5. He's right but you can't make companies hire. I think |

it was Clinton that put a luxury tax on yachts, the rich rather than paying a little tax decided they would just postpone buying that new boat and they shut the boat building industry down. They decide they want a Republican controlled government they shut down hiring until they get what they want. The rich have no patriotism or loyalty to country only money. Someone told me a long time ago the rich aren't racist either, they don't care what race you are they have as much disdain for a white working class person as they do any other race. While they practice "class warfare" they are always claiming the opposite that it is the Democrats that do "class warfare", they are masters at deception. They call the MSM the "liberal media" for decades and the media responds by handling them with kid gloves so as not to be accused of being the "liberal media".

6. It's republicans vs. Americans now. |
|
As in "American senators tried to pass an extension to unemployment benefits but were voted down by the republicans" or "Since the Americans took office in 2009, republicans have refused to participate in the government". Or "Americans reject republican spokeswoman $arah Palin: 71% find her unfit for presidency". Or even "Americans pushed back today against republican calls for secession".
We are free to cast events as republicans vs. Americans if we want to, especially considering the right's increasingly un-American rhetoric and behavior. How come we never get to frame the debate?

it's all about increasing the corporate bottom line and executive bonuses that get funneled back in the form of "campaign contributions" into Swiss bank accounts. When desperate people have to accept lower pay just to survive the corporate crooks make more money. Lowering living standards for the American working class is what Republicans do for sport.
