Republicans claim to be outraged by deficit spending. What they fail to point out is that they created the deficits.

3. The bush deficits were OK.
It was all for the WAR effort, and that trumps everything.
To the tea KLANNERS, that is.

5. Obama was at his best there.
He was talking straight, knew his facts, pulling no punches. That was a great video.

How much of the so-called deficit is actually due to the bail-outs (directly or indirectly).

How much have Republican tax cuts and this Republican recession including the Republican outsourcing and importing cost us in tax revenue.

Out-of-work people do not pay taxes. That is much of our problem.

What are our current tax revenues compared to what they would be if we had not instituted the tax cuts for the rich during the Bush era.

6. According to Rep. Grayson, we were 7 years from paying off the national debt
Edited on Mon Jul-19-10 03:46 PM by tclambert
when Clinton, that darn tax and spend Democrat, was President. Then George W. Bush became President and saved the national debt!

8. Grayson was wrong.
Heart was in the right place, but his data was totally wrong. We ALMOST didn't grow the total national debt under Clinton's best budget year.

Fiscal
Year Year
Ending National Debt Deficit
FY1993 09/30/1993 $4.411488 trillion
FY1994 09/30/1994 $4.692749 trillion $281.26 billion
FY1995 09/29/1995 $4.973982 trillion $281.23 billion
FY1996 09/30/1996 $5.224810 trillion $250.83 billion
FY1997 09/30/1997 $5.413146 trillion $188.34 billion
FY1998 09/30/1998 $5.526193 trillion $113.05 billion
FY1999 09/30/1999 $5.656270 trillion $130.08 billion
FY2000 09/29/2000 $5.674178 trillion $17.91 billion
FY2001 09/28/2001 $5.807463 trillion $133.29 billion

His best budget year was 17.91bn in deficit. Total debt is public debt +intragovernment holdings. When Congress borrows money from an internal loan against social security, it's still debt. It's a smoke and mirrors tool to 'balance the budget' and it does nothing of the kind.

That said, Clinton's stewardship oversaw the best economy I can remember, and incredibly limited budget overruns, compared to GW. Fractional. Tiny. I would take the 90's over today in a heartbeat.

7. You could play this round the clock on every network
for a week straight and the "morans" watching faux skews would still blame Obama for the entire deficit.

12. Well that's what they do.
Of course they have to fake it. Their hero, Ronald Reagan,
was the one who decided operating on a deficit was ok.
