This is how they right wing propagandists must be called out. Their rhetoric needs to be distilled and explained. Even a full time Beck viewer could understand it. It's a shame we have to waste so much time on such bullshit.

that is it.
Fux, beck and those who hold those two in undeserved high esteem are up to their ears in a campaign to de-legitimize the African American population of this country by broadly labeling us as communists, anarchists, "not one of us" because we want the laws and constitution to uphold the rights of all its citizens no matter the color their skin or in which direction they turn to pray.
Nothing on the face of the earth will ever make me bend my mind to believe that beck either understands what civil rights means to black people or that he understood the mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. beck is a fraud and a counterfeit, plain and simple, and I'm glad that karma is what it is because when his lands on his head, it's going to be spectacular.

it's there in black and white what this person was going to do and how they would be able to lead by the nose many, many of those of weak and mediocre christian fortitude.
even Jesus knew that the rich are trash and doesn't want them in his father's house.

6. Re: Beck's concept of "grace"...I'm no theologian, but.. |
|
I've read a lot of the fiction and non-fiction works of Andrew Greely, the RC priest. His novels deal with the idea of "grace" as the unmerited love of God for (flawed) humans. This is something I can sit-with, even tho' I don't consider myself religious in the ordinary sense.
What Beck is doing is confirming exactly what the fundies want to hear, which is that "good works" will not get you into heaven. Fundies go around flapping their jaws about how they "believe on Jeebus" and that seems to get them off the hook in terms of salvation.
I've always thought that idea to be particularly repugnant. Once saved, always saved, so to speak. Beck's rants have a Calvinist predestination tone. Ugh!
He's a demogogue. But everyone here already knew that.

7. So basically they can do as they |
|
wish with no repercussions for their behavior? That would explain some behavior we have been witnessing lately.

9. The flaw in Beck's argument is that "by Grace alone" is not a universal Christian belief |
|
It is very Protestant, but a Roman Catholic priest such as Andrew Greeley will have a different idea. Roman Catholic dogma holds that Grace and Good Works are necessary to find the Kingdom of Heaven.

10. Beck's greatest fear is of the American People coming to the conclusion |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-23-10 02:50 PM by Uncle Joe
that "redistribution of wealth" really means the uber-wealthy and mega-corporations need to pay a greater share of the nation's tax burden, thereby making life easier for the poor, middle income people and nation as a whole.
That's all he gives a shit about, protecting the interests of the wealthy, but he can't come out and say that, so he turns it in to a racial issue as a means to promote the American People's deep seated emotions; of fear and hatred over their reason and wisdom.
It's just more divide and conquer strategy to defeat the best interests of the vast majority of the American People; of whom make a very small fraction of Beck's income.
Thanks for the thread, CherylK.
