1. It's very strange to hear conservatives prattling about "sensitivity".
That's a word I would never, ever associate with conservatives. It's right up there with "empathy" and "patriotism", not to mention "responsibility". These are not conservative traits.

2. You gotta respect the will of the people, folks.
Remember how quickly the Republicans pushed for pulling out of Iraq when they learned that a majority of Americans thought that we should?

7. I Have to Agree
It's been a long time since I saw so much truth, so assertively put in the MSM, even on MSNBC.

His bit on Social Security was damning of republican BS, so spot-on, I was cheering the small-screen. I commented to a friend that they aren't likely to allow him to come back, as he was saying just about everything that can't be said in our media.

4. The WTC is a special place
America of the past could clean the place up, rebuild and succeed. Now, the will and capital to do that is in China or Dubai.

8. I have never heard of Pearl Harbor being referred to as
'hallowed ground'. Guess it's the GOP's new buzz word. Hitlerian tactics are being used more and more by the far right goons.

10. The Arizona memorial is
I'm pretty sure on the plaque and the memorial building it has been referred to as such. But aside from that one ship berth,

life goes on around it.

6. I think Cenk did a great job of not letting him get away with anything.
And that is a task because they have all the weasel points well memorized.

19. Cenk had this newtie on the run - really wish some Dem candidates would study this clip
Edited on Tue Aug-17-10 11:43 PM by wordpix
they might actually win if they learn how to debate like Cenk instead of running for cover like Harry Reid and getting caught in the crossfire b/c he doesn't know where "base" is.

9. GOP: Muslim Americans are not always 'real' Americans
I keep noticing that the CONs seem to refer to Muslim Americans as only Muslims and not Americans. Now I'm sure that if any of them are called on it they will deny it, but it sure seemed that this A-...guy also did this kind of word play. (at ~ 1:50 and 2:20). He kept with the line that 'They', the Muslims, as though they aren't Americans, have the right but should bow to the will of the 'real' Americans. I just think we should bash them (the CONs, obviously) with this distinction each and every time they do it. While I'm personally not Muslim, I think we should welcome all the religions to practice in this country peacefully. While I can't say I know how it feels to be on the receiving end by such large groups, I do know how it is to be needled on these kinds of religious issues in private. I had a Grad School adviser that would talk about how it would be better if all the students were made to go to services and stuff(ie, Christian), while knowing that I am Pagan. I got lucky that some of his other students joined me in telling him to STFU, but not in those words.:)

11. Conservative Lunacy
Tomorrow the Rethugs will be saying we can't build a mosque in NYC...
The Republicans are just using this as a political issue for the midterms. Why else would they be running ads on this?
And Newt Gingrich's Mosque/Nazi comments are just further evidence he is seriously considering jumping into the Republican presidential primaries.

12. Should all Japanese ancestry people and sites be kept away from Pearl Harbor?

I could tell you right now as someone who spent a year of my childhood there, that that would be a near impossible thing to do, even if there was the desire to do it. I was part of a VERY SMALL racial minority as a white person in my elementary school there in Oahu, with most everyone else there of Asian ancestry then.

The key question is what kind of site is being built, and if ties can be made to those who supported the invasion of Pearl Harbor if someone proposed building such a site. Otherwise, just like around New York, we have no business restricting people building sites there purely on the basis of their race or religion.

13. I hate these Republicon dicks, especially the ones in charge who were not
"sensitive" enough to stop the 2001 carnage from happening.

What type of businesses are "sensitive" to Ground Zero (I hate that friggin' name)? The strips joints or fast food joints there? You know, Teabagger venues.
