1. I've been saying exactly this for a long time
Edited on Sun Oct-10-10 10:18 AM by FirstTimeVoterAt37
Let me tell you, when you wake up every morning terrified to go to school because you know - not think, KNOW - that you will be physically abused, it's not bullying.

It's torture. It. Is. Fucking. Torture. This is not hyperbole, you literally feel that you are being tortured, and every day that goes by, you trust EVERY SINGLE PERSON AROUND YOU LESS FOR NOT PUTTING A STOP TO IT. You start by giving up on other children, then teachers, then your parents, and then the rest of the world.

A tortured child does not appreciate first amendment debates. He wants it to fucking stop so he can TRY to not live in mortal terror and physical agony every goddamn day of his life.

I refuse to go into details, but I will say this: I know this to be true because I tried to kill myself at age 13. I came very VERY close to succeeding too.

2. It's persecution, it's stalking, it's harassment
Edited on Sun Oct-10-10 10:22 AM by SemperEadem
and add coordinating with another person to carry out the harassment--that's called "conspiracy to commit".

It's a crime. And parents who don't teach their children better are contributing to the
delinquency of a minor.

it's not some childish prank--and shouldn't someone in college be old enough to understand
that bullying behavior at their age is regressive? It should be enough to warrant a
psychiatric evaluation of them.

13. He used to be a host on VH-1 or MTV,
back when they actually played music.

He interviewed Paul McCartney back in the 90's.

8. That was well said. No child should be fearful of going to school.
Edited on Sun Oct-10-10 02:00 PM by rainlillie
My son's best friend was overweight and disabled, he was harassed on a daily basis. My son would stand up for him whenever he was around, but the school didn't do much about it. His friends parents had him transferred to another school. They thought if they spoke out it would make things more difficult for their son.

10. excellent!
I like "unAmerican persecution"... though "peer abuse" will do...

I took my oldest son out of school half way through his 8th grade year... he didn't express himself much but I knew something was up... after too many times of "...do I have to go to school..." I told him NO, you don't have to go THERE... I had to homeschool him (while working 2 jobs as a single parent) for the last half and finally got some help getting him into a school in another town starting his Freshman year... he did a 180 and was very successful..

It was a couple of years later that I learned the real extent of the unAmerican persecution he was getting... I am extremely dismayed by the abuse that our society has tolerated in schools

12. He's absolutely right
Bullying is an archaic term and concept - it's gone waaaay beyond that.

John needs his own show - he's great on Stephanie Miller, but she interrupts him too much.
