Alec Baldwin is fighting for his right to marry another man -- and not just any man, Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Baldwin took his message to YouTube Wednesday, responding to a video Ferguson made earlier this summer confessing his crush on the 30 Rock star.
"As a result of
, a vast and malicious whisper campaign has emerged, alleging that I can’t marry Jesse because I’m not gay," Baldwin says. "I hear people saying this behind my back on a daily basis."
Ferguson's video featured the red-headed actor clutching a framed photo of Baldwin and announcing his secret crush on the star, blaming "stupid senators" for the fact that they can't marry in New York.
In fact, says Baldwin, there's only one roadblock in the way of him forming an everlasting union with Ferguson, the openly gay star of the hit ABC show.
"There is one reason and one reason only why I can't marry Jesse in New York next year," Baldwin declares. "The New York State Senate."
Baldwin and Ferguson's videos were both made as part of a campaign to get gay marriage legalized in New York, sponsored by FightBackPac.com.
The website says it is dedicated to mobilizing voters against "anti-equality Senators."
In December of 2009, the New York State Senate rejected a bill that would have allowed gay couples to marry.
Based on that vote, FightBackPac.com has identified 30 Republicans and 8 Democrats they feel should be kicked out of office because they don't support marriage equality.
Baldwin is just the latest celebrity to lend his voice to gay rights.
On Wednesday, bold-faced names like Alyssa Milano, Ryan Seacrest, Kate Walsh, Khloe Kardashian, Perez Hilton and the hosts of "The View" donned purple for "Spirit Day" to show their support for gays and lesbians.
Baldwin says he was motivated to fight for gay marriage so that no one can prevent him from tying the knot with Ferguson.
"I'm going to do something about it, and so should you," he says in the video. "Because no one tells a New Yorker that they can't marry Jesse Tyler Ferguson."
