1. Kucinich too sounds open to the idea of extending Bush tax cuts for a couple of years ...
Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 01:16 PM by GOTV
... which is a terrible idea because it brings the issue back right in time for the presidential elections. The Dems are going to get rolled again.

Man, no wonder their supporters vote. The GOP pushes hard for the issues they've duped their followers into believing and they do it beautifully.

2. I agree that the timing of 'a couple of years' is bad,' and to be avoided.
Otherwise I agree 100% w. Dennis, he knows all have an obligation to 'govern' now, and when 'they' fail, we can win by making their failure clear. Messaging will be a HUGE piece of 2012.

3. I think Cenk was right and Kucinich was wrong.
Cenk's point was that there will be no compromise or working together to create jobs, because they want failure to happen so they can blame Obama in 2012. I agree with Cenk.

Kucinich said the American people won't tolerate that failure and instead will vote independent.

I don't buy it. The Republican constituency continually votes against its own interest. Expecting them to vote against Republicans or to even notice that the Republicans caused the train wreck is wishful thinking.

5. Perspicacious answers from a wise statesman
Unfortunately, far over the heads of many.

Do people actually listen to his words before jumping to conclusions not supported by the actual substance?

Mr. Kucinich uses language as a tool for communication. English can be very precise if one bothers to have an ear for it.

Dennis uses a language often steeped in metaphors of peace and ahimsa.

American culture is often steeped in the language and metaphors of violence, such as war and other violent aggression.

If Mr. Kucinich wanted to "roundup" the opposition and "machete" their ideas and legislation, perhaps only then would many find his opinions palatable.

Oh, well. Vandana Shiva makes a point in a slightly different context:

The war mentality underlying military-industrial agriculture is evident from the names of Monsanto's herbicides - ''Round-Up'', ''Machete'', ''Lasso''. American Home Products, which has merged with Monsanto, gives its herbicides similarly aggressive names, including ''Pentagon'' and ''Squadron''.This is the language of war. Sustainability is based on peace with the earth.
