"Joe Manchin Party Switch? GOP Reportedly Enticing Democratic Senator-Elect"

Republicans are reportedly in the midst of drawing up an incentive package that could potentially convince West Virginia Senator-elect Joe Manchin, currently the state's conservative Democratic governor, to jump ship and place an "R" next to his name.

If Manchin were to switch parties, the action would come with a promise of $1 billion in start-up funds for the coal conversion operation, as well as the important political significance of being able to campaign for reelection in 2012 against Barack Obama, who is currently highly unpopular in West Virginia.

2. West Virginia turncoat
The one thing I know about the folks in West Virginia they don't like a turncoat. Manchin will sign his own political death sentence if he switches sides. We 'Mountain Williams' like who we like but don't try and pull the wool over our eyes, won't work. Senator Robert Byrd was a Democratic and won re-election for decades. It won't take the West Virginia folks long to realize the only reason the republicans want Manchin is to fight Obama. I haven't lived in the state of West by God for over 20 years and I could be wrong on that score. Manchin is a 2nd (or 3rd) generation coal miner family and just for that the folks at home will love him. He has done more for the coal industry than most, but even he won't be bought. He won't forget the folks that voted for him and he will always stand tall as a West Virginian first!

3. This is pretty scary. Manchin is clearly sending switch hitter signals.

Sounds like he's ready to switch teams.

We're screwed.
