I have lived in Egypt in my younger days, for a couple of years and it was not like this then. It was a time when Arabs loved us and treated us with respect. Then it was a magical place and just a ferry ride from Piraeus and two from Rome; where I happily spent a third of my adult life. The world is fast moving toward authoritarianism to accommodate the New World Order presided over by the very rich and ruthless. Not so much fun to travel anymore.

3. Just returned from Cairo |
|
I was in Cairo in late October. This video is very upsetting for me to watch because I liked the Egyptians very much. I really feel for them. The economy is in a very bad state right now. While we were going through Cairo on the bus, we saw street after street of unfinished buildings. It was a blight on the city. I asked the tour guide and he said it was because of the downturn of the economy. I guess there were not enough funds to complete the buildings. It was very sad.

4. Egypt is the biggest recipient of US money in the world |
|
It's a country with a lot of people, quite a bit of fertile land, and they're not that far from Europe. It's a shame that they don't have a better government. But the one that's there is kept in place by the US.
