4. The meme we have to defeat is this one

"If we leave now, Iraq will descend into chaos"... and it's corollary "If we leave now, our enemies will think that we are weak".

First things first... It's already descended into near chaos, and the Iraqi police forces that we are supposed to be helping are actually working with the militias against us... using the equipment we provide them. By leaving and taking our weapons with us, we might actually decrease the violence, but in any case, we aren't doing much good there now (very little or no reconstruction is taking place now because of security concerns). As for what our enemies think of us should we simply pullout, it's clear that we would have a more formidable army now than at any point in the near future, not to mention that our forces could be redeployed to other places where we can demonstrate the resolve of the American people. We went through this before and didn't suffer greatly because of it, we can do it again.
